unless the people here are in the "upper income earners" they can't comment on how it would effect them personally unless you specify how it would affect them

if it went into boosting the economy or "shovel rdy jobs" (or any equivalent) then as a whole everyone will benefit as economy raises

if it purely went into paying back debt then everyone is in exactly same boat they are in now

dont forget as economy raises so does your ability to pay back said debt
The way I see it is, unless you are on some kind of government assistance, or you make over $200k per year, you won't be directly affected. You claim that IF the revenue went to paying down the debt, but do you think it will?

A raise in income taxes would probably not affect me very much.

But i am curious as to which taxes would be raised how much, and with what destination in the Federal budget? There is too much unsaid here imo. cn
I agree, I guess we'd have to get some clarification from president Obama on that, but it hasn't stopped most on the left from advocating it, has it?

If you raise my taxes, I can pay for more people to collect welfare and food stamps while they drive Cadillac Escalades and wear $200 Air Jordans, it may even go towards financing another government failure like Solydra!

I know one thing, it won't go towards paying down the debt.

Thats odd, my wife and I know some people that are on govt. assistance. About 1/2 of them dont have a car at all, the ones that do drive a shitbox.

Same thing with sneakers and clothes. Youre reffering to the ones that are abusing the system.

Do you think its fair that a millionaire pays a lower tax rate than you or i do?

As far as Solyndra goes, yes it was an utter failure. That being said id rather see my tax $ go towards developing renewable energy than subsidies to the most profitable corporations on earth that sell a finite product

Our federal government wastes billions of dollars a year on redundant bureaucracies ans fraudulent entitlements, this has been argued for many years, why is there no solution, why should my or anyone's tax dollars go towards fraud and waste the government refuses to fix?

The claim that millionaires pay a lower tax rate than most Americans is false, the fact is, they pay higher income tax rates than 85% of all American workers. Obama and the MSM has people like you confused with marginal tax rates and effective tax rates. Almost 50% of American tax filers pay nearly zero federal income tax. If you think that raising income taxes will help the economy, you're wrong. More tax revenue = more government programs = more government spending.

People either don't know or they forget that, the only way to improve the economy is to put money into the hands of private citizens, government only takes it out.

If were gonna tackle govt. waste im all for it. Lets start w/ subsidies for huge corporations, cutting defense before we take from the needy

I take it you meant more than Mitt Romney paid. If that's the case, your schedule C should have been around $170,000+ That income puts you between the top 5-10%, right about the same marginal tax bracket as me.

Here's my argument about raising taxes on the higher income earners like ourselves. For the last four years, Obama and the democrats have publicly demeaned the uber rich (0.01% the 400 wealthiest Americans) while really intending to raise taxes on Americans making over $200K. There is no question that those tactics are deceitful and dishonest. Up until 2009, I was one of those who would be hit with those higher taxes. I live and run a business in California, and anyone that lives in this state can tell you that making $200-$250k a year in California is far from rich. Why does he only talk about the uber rich when he wants to raise taxes on the upper middle class?

If the Obama administration claims the national debt is climbing because the rich are not taxed enough, then someone please explain how a $60-$80 billion rise in tax revenue would pay down a $1,000billion deficit each year. And, why haven't we even made an attempt at paying down the debt, but we continue to spend?

I had a contract for a large housing authority replacing underground utilities that last about 2 years. Yes my friend, you do see 50k suvs parked out front, I am not saying everyone has one but they're there. It was dangerous, drugs, fights, gangs, and the occasional gun shots. Fortunately we had armed security that hung around us a lot so we didn't run into any problem besides the kids trying to climb our protective fencing that was around 10feet deep holes. I felt sorry for the disabled and elderly, they were scared shitless always ducking their head and running/wheel-chairing as fast as that could to the public transit. This was in a very conservative state, no way in hell I would work for one in New Orleans I have seen that shit on Gangland....

I would like to add, I don't see this as our main problem, its way down on the list. Our government if so fucking retarded they could fuck up a wet dream, we just need to cut a bunch of other shit that is doing almost no good, and quit spending 200million here and there on shit we don't use.

You can tell me but as I said this isn't the problem, it that our government is not competent enough to make common sense regulations. I figure this tax hike will only hurt the the people that follow the rules to begin with, Our tax code is a mammoth and it changes on a yearly basis. Most experts say thing really wont help much, and I tend to agree. I kinda feel stupid arguing that the government needs more money, regardless where it comes from when they are so reckless. Its like letting a crack head handle your finances.
