I just started reading two new books - Desperation , By Stephen King, and Grow Basics: The easy guide for cannabis aficionados, By Jorge Cervantes

Desperation: Is a story about several people who, while traveling along the desolated Route 50 in Nevada, get abducted by Collie Entragian, the deputy of the fictional mining town of Desperation. Entragian uses various pretexts for the abductions, from an arrest for drug possession to “rescuing” a family from a nonexistent gunman.
It becomes clear to the captives that Entragian has been possessed by an evil being named Tak, who has control over the surrounding desert wildlife and must change hosts to keep itself alive. They begin to fight for their freedom, sanity and lives before realising that if they are ever to escape Desperation, they must trap Tak in the place from where he came.

Grow Basics / :leaf:Well its a book about growing, as if you needed that explained :leaf:

A lovely book I finished recently was "The History of the World in 100 Objects" by the director of the British Museum. It was like getting a fresh season of "Connections" but less tech and more political history. cn

You should read the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Basically all his other books tie into the Dark Tower series.

The first book he ever wrote was "The Gunslinger" and he was going to quit after writing the last in the series but you can't quit genius.

Sorry I'm pretty drunk.

My field is full of flowers and thistles... fucking thistles...
Thistles rot. When I was married and had a rural spread, the Frau got some Barbados sheep. They smartbombed ALL the thistles and the poison oak to boot. Be very very glad you have no poison oak down there. cn

I'm a fan of The Dark Tower series myself, although I found King's latest addition (The Wind Through the Keyhole) to be kinda sucky.

Excellent reads. The thing that bugged me the most about LotR were the silly little songs that seemed to spring up almost every other page. And I can't even bear to watch HBO's GoT series because it keeps straying further and further away from the books. I hope Martin churns out the last two books of the series before he keels over - he's getting rather old and chubby.

I'm currently reading I, Claudius by Robert Graves and really digging it.
