I have an old book called back to basics, by readers digest. It shows you how to make fleece into yarn, how to make dyes, which plants make what colors, how to use a loom and make patterns. I think it even showed you how to make the loom if I remember correctly, it even had sections on how to make your own house out of adobe, logs, etc.

The book has everything, even a section on making you own energy, via wind, solar, or things like producing your own biodiesel, methane and ethanol.
The Foxfire series covers just about everything. I love those books. I especially loved the boogers and haints section about ghosts. Scared the beejeebus out of me.

Unlucky, those rugs are owned by my family. I took the pics last night.

These are a few of the smaller ones we have. Sorry for the quality and the amateur ms paint modifications. Incriminating evidence and all. ;)

My favorite rug is the last one. If you look closely on the center left portion of the rug you can see the flaw. This is a deliberate mistake. All Navajo rugs have them. This is so the weaver's creativity isn't trapped within the rug. It allows it to "escape" the rug.

edit: I told you I wouldn't be able to sleep.
is there a link on its way ? :-/

Have you posted pics on RIU? I'd love to see some of your artwork.
No... I do have some around here somewhere. I've been busy with taking care of sick parents so my hobbies have taken a back seat for awhile. I'll see if I can scrounge up something. I was making a hat band for a friend of mine but she passed away suddenly so I still have it. I hope I can find it.

sorry for my last post was thinking you had give up on the link...so do you know where thay got them from ?
Local weavers. Most of them friends and family. They were either gifted to us or we purchased them from new weavers. It's so cute. Weavers are always embarrassed by their first rugs. The rugs always turn out beautiful so I never understand why they are so shy about it. :p

No sir.. I'd like for you to stop acting like a girl lol. I mean you're cool as a member and all but it's creepy when you act like a girl and use somebody's pics to try to prove it lol. Alright I'm done, don't want to derail this thread too much.. Sorry carne :).
Shit happens. :p
