4x4 1000W Tent

I recently decided to change what I am going to do for my setup and just had a few questions before I purchase parts.

I am planning on having two fans, one that pulls from outside, through my cool tube and then out of the tent. And then one that pull air from outside, puts it through a homemade filter and then out the tent.

So firstly I was wondering if two of these http://www.amazon.com/LEDwholesalers-GYO2402-6-Inch-Hydroponic-Booster/dp/B003YFADW8/ref=sr_1_2?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1339176960&sr=1-2 would work. And can you adjust the speed with that type of fan?

Also I want to make sure 1000W is not too much light/heat for a 4x4 tent, or if I should go with a 600W.

My next question is on pots, If I read correctly 4 plants will be the best choice, what pots should I use?

Also how important are tds ec and ph meters? Can I get cheaper ones or even Ph strips?

My last question is not really about setup but if anyone can recommend soil and nute combos for me to use it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any help and sorry for all the questions :P

I have a 4 x 4 tent and have been very successful with 600 watts. The temperature is MUCH easier to control and the grow is still very strong.

Hmm okay besides temp is there any disadvantage of having 1000w in there?

Also BUMP going shopping tomorrow morning and could really use some guidance.

Get a cooltube and use the 1000w. This way you can grow taller plants. Some guy did a test. 2 600's vs 1 1000. The 1000 won for some reason

In a tent that size I use 2 air cooled hoods, with 2 400 watt lumitek ballasts. Can mix and bulbs and wattages. When I flower I crank up both ballasts on superlumens giving me 880 watts total with excellent light spread.

The only problem is its 2 of everything so costs go up but yields off the chart running hydro and scrog.

Yes it should, the CFM is a bit low. You get what you pay for, spending a few extra bucks on a better made fan with a higher CFM will allow you to control the temps a LOT better.

I have a 1000w HPS light in a 4x4 tent, temps perfect at 78. This goes hand in hand with the above question, get a good fan and you wont have a heat issue.

I prefer SmartPots, the drainage is great, lets air flow through the sides so the roots can get more O2 and they're cheap.

Very. At MINIMUM get the drops, GH makes a combo-package with pH indicator drops, pH Up & Down, a dropper, and a vial all for ~15. I had this exact same combo at first and it worked good. Once you get the money DEFINITELY invest in a pH pen and a TDS meter. I found my pH to be off enough with the drops to cause noticeable difference once I got the meter. The TDS meter I got right after my first nute burn happened. Both my pH pen and TDS meter are from bluelab, the both of them cost me ~180 or less but they come with a 5 year warranty I believe.

Look up the lucas formula for nutes. Or if you want to keep it simple I'm having great results with the FloraNova series. It's just one bottle (FloraNova Grow) for the entire veg time and you switch to FloraNova Bloom once you start to flower. Easy as cake.

As for soil, get something organic so you have better control of it. Pro-Mix is cheap and works great!

If I get a 450cfm for the lights and then one of the cheap ones for my carbon scrubber will that work well? also knowledge on the valuline? http://www.amazon.com/Inch-ValuLine-Centrifugal-Inline-Fan/dp/B0033BONPQ/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1339216977&sr=8-11&keywords=6"+inline+fan

Is an ec meter always built in with a tds meter?

Thanks a ton for all of the help and the product recommendations hopefully my local shop carries them.

Looks similar to mine. My CFM is a tiny bit over 400, so that'll be perfect for ya. Just plug it in and let it run through the light full speed works best for me. For the Second fan, setup a carbon scrubber inside the tent and have the fan suck the air out and exhaust it, you want negative pressure in there so cool air passively comes in. You may need a fan speed controller to fine tune the temp for the exhaust fan.

Nope, my TDS meter isn't an EC meter but it works great for what I need

So do I not need to worry about a ec meter?

Also do you have any seeds you could recommend me by chance? lol

Thanks again for all of your help

Naw, just add your nutes to your water, adjust the PPM accordingly then pH adjust it to 6.5

And as for seeds, I've never purchased any. Just got clones locally :)

Anyone have any last advice for me before I leave to go shopping?

Specifically I am curious if 4 plants is the correct amount now

About the fan:
I personally have used that exact fan and after about 2months it stopped working. I bought another and it caught fire and almost messed up an entire grow. It also doesnt come with instructions and you have to wire it yourself. This could pose a problem if you arent electronically savvy. Also LED Wholesalers has THE WORST EVERYTHING! From tents to fans to customer service. I highly recommend you dont buy anything from them. It is all poorly and cheaply made. I have this fan and it works wonders http://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-Active-Air-inch-In-Line/product-reviews/B002JQ14F8/ref=sr_1_2_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1

I normally run between 8 and 9 plants in a perpetual grow which lets me harvest 1 or two plants a week. I change strains depending on my tastes but my current strains in flower are Bubblegummer, 3rd Dimension, C99, and a special Critical SSH. I have a Swiss Cheese, Sugar Black Rose, and a Pure AK coming up soon. Quality over quantity but I get plenty for myself.

Thanks a ton for the picture that helps me a lot!

Am I seeing that correctly you do Outside air > Light > Fan > Scrubber > Outside?

Outside air is sucked in via the open flaps only, negative pressure. I pump no extra air in. My system is filter>fan>light>outside and into the attic

Ok that is what I thought was common, so you are blowing the air over your right rather than pulling it through? If that makes sense...

Also since we seem to have the same grows, I only have one 6" fan for the inside, I see you have 2 small ones and a large one am I going to need to pick up more fans for inside?

I have always ran two 6" fans and a small osciallating fan which I feel really helps with the stability of my temps under the 1000w. The more air circulation the better in my eyes, the fans and lightmover also stop any hotspots. Yes I suck through the filter and blow through my light
