top or bend?

I just finished pruning 30 or so of my plants, all above the 4th node. After topping 4 of them, I asked myself, why am i cutting bud sites off when i could just bend the stem to give the bud sites(not sure if bud sites is right terminology, hopefully you all know what i'm talking about) the light they need to branch... with 20 of my plants i bent the stem back where i would have cut it if i had topped the plant. A few i bent so hard the stem cracked almost entirely through, hopefully they will heal. So anyways, why top when you can bend?

There are afew different ways man. Most popular n usually easiest, is topping. Then Fimming then i've also heard of low stress training where u tie the plant down to grow it bushy. Then I read something about bending like your saying. Were the person would bend n almost break it he basically said he bent it till he felt the plants cell tissues tear . If u've ever broken a branch u kno the feelin, where u break it without breaking it ya kno. That way it still has enuff there to heal n ends up growing horizontally instead of vertically

stonder408 i like what you did with your plants. i'm doing something similar, but i don't care if they stay short, i just want plant to be bushy to allow the growth shoots equal amounts of sun, and to make my plant look less conspicous from the sky. a lot of air traffic where i'm planting. do you all think this method will dampen my yield in the end? i've read that a lot of this has to do on whether or not your strain does well with pruning. i'm growing fms easy sativa, maroc, purple power and green house seeds church, ams, big bang.

I would have to suggest FIM topping,if you're new to it their is lots of info on it on the net just google it you will prolly like this because you cut off less than regular topping and get back way more!
and if you alredy know about it then I wuold suggest that over bending because when you bened the plant has to repair its self and stops growth till done reparing

I just FIMMED my #1 Plant. Waiting for the growth back. Cant wait to see it

how long of a repair time would you say? i think im gonna stop for awhile its still a good distsance from the light

Prolly a week or two depending on the strain age of plant and other conditions including on atmospheric.
also another major factor is how much you cracked the stem we need pics to.

make your own post don't steal this one !

I have to admit I've never topped or FIMd, but I just don't like the idea of wasting growth when I can just tie the sucker down and expose more bud sites. I absolutely love LST; my tops turn back toward the light within hours and grown does not slow at all to where I can notice it. It's great for creating a flat canopy of bud sites that doesn't require penetration. This means that you don't have taller colas restricting the height of the lights -- all are the same distance from the light! Again, I love LST.

fuck... so it sounds like i shouldn't have lst, bent, or topped any of my plants... so are we all under the belief that for max outdoor yield let the plant grow without any messing around with it? aside from bending the plant back slightly durring flowering to allow light to the bud sites of course. it sounds like those pruning techniques are for meant for indoor growing.
