Hey guys,

So my two main interests in architecture and growing have given me the idea to start this thread.

If anyone would like an aesthetically pleasing and accurate Grow-room design drafted up, just post some measurements and any equipment you plan to use. I'll see what I can do.

This is just something I'm doing for fun and maybe I can help someone out in the process.

Here's an idea of what I mean..

i would like to use the bathroom is for my RO system and resiovor/nutrient area.

i really need help on my veg room, its a little small becauses theres shelves in it which makes it actually smaller and yes i forgot to put a door in the veg room, same size as the bathroom door.View attachment 2191432 the veg room is about 10 ft and clean room is about 4x4 maybe smaller,
feel free too add any equipment i may be missing,

Does the staircase lead to the veg. room via a hallway?

no the stair case leads to the clean room then into the bloom room, the veg room entrance is right next to the bathroom door, i forgot to add a door in the veg room, but same size as the bathrooms door and about a couple feet next to it.

I added another fan because I think you're going to need it to keep your lights cool. They're vented on a closed loop, bringing in air from one window and exhausting it from the other.

Shoot me the measurements of your veg. room and the shelving in there.

Ok so couple things come in mind, I was wondering where should the ballast go, I know they cause a lot of heat so I thought it would be better to have them separate as oppose to being grouped up?
land my other question is what kind of ac should I get and where should it go? I know it needs air from a outdoor source and it has be sealed for optimal co2 levels.

Also I notice yo added the scrubber towards the from door. I'm guessed since I'm exhausting hot air from the lights out the room there's no point of adding the scrubber or uvianor to the mix? Is it ok just to keep scrubbing the air inside the room? Do I not need to exhaust all that air somewhere?

Ballasts don't build up too much heat, but you can hang them in groups of 2 wherever you have outlets available.

It depends on how much you're wanting to spend on an A/C unit. A 12,000 BTU portable should be able to keep your room cool without a problem since your lights are air-cooled.
You can duct it from one of the windows.

Since your lights are bringing in air from outside the room, there's no smell in that air.

You're correct about the scrubber, it will clean the air inside your room over and over without any need to exhaust it.

I will have exact measurement and pictures by tomorrow to give u a better idea, I know the veg room will be key so I can get a continuous harvest going, just a little worried about veg space. Will have up by tomorrow

if you can afford it i would have a minisplit installed. portable ac units tend to leak odor and co2 because they are not dual chamber. a minisplit is expensive but the most efficient way to cool the room. it is completely sealed and will leak no odor or co2. if not...the next best way would be a window ac unit. tend to be just as efficient as minisplits but create problems if you live in a cold climate or on't have windows you can stick them in. aren't 100% sealed but work just fine because they rarely leak co2 and odor.

6,000w of vented lighting is more than a 12,000btu ac in my opinion. definitely not a 12,000btu portable ac. i would go with a 18,000btu minisplit or window unit. if you have to get portable a/c units then you will probably need 2 12,000btu units as they are not very efficient. or, if you can afford it but can not do minisplits or window ac units then look into kwikool or ideal air units. they are commercial grade portable ac units with true dual chamber construction. a 18,000btu unit will run you like $2,500 though. obviously a lot of this depends on where you are and the ambient temps of the house.

with 6 lights like that you should definitely run them on a lightcontroller and a hot strike box. you are gonna need to wire the room anyway so i would wire the ballasts 240v and run a 240v line to the room. then run all 6 ballasts on a 240v 8 ballast timer. then you just plug the trigger cord into a hot strike/high temp box. really the safest and most efficient way to set the lighting up.

Good info. my man and I'd agree with every word but we're only working with 3600 Watts Total. ^

600 Watters run pretty cool when vented and i think a portable A/C or window unit would handle it.

You may still want to incorporate some sort of lighting controller. And think about running a dedicated circuit to room just for lights and A/C.

i found a mini split for about 1000-1500 seems a little expensive, ill look more into that.
i was thinking of goin with a window ac because of the size windows this room has. plus cold tempatures arnt too much of a problem. my concern is leaking co2 but thats why i invested in the best equipment i can get my hands on, hopefully if i do take the window ac route ill be able to figure it out. and i aree about puttin them out the room, i was thinkin the bathroom, the veg room would get too hot to handle i think,

shit, ok soo i geuss i should of really looked into what i was purchasing, i didnt get the 240v i got the 160 i believe, is that a problem, i read that it truly doesnt make much of a diffrence so it would be better to get the 240, my dumbass ot the 160...
and yea safety is priority number 1!!!! i actually have been lookin into automated smart grows, for security and hazzard i think its best never to skimp out. any more sugestions or thouht on this?

and thats actually in the works at the moment, just looking at some quotes, do u have a estimate on something like that?
its funny electricty scares the shit out of me, im willin to pay top doller for the safest and most reliable electrition/equipment!

If you haven't already started setting up you can have an electrician come in and run a new line to the room for a couple hundred bucks. Just tell them your starting a home business and you need to run a lot of computer equipment, or something like that. You don't need much extra power, maybe just another 15amps. It's actually not too difficult to do yourself if you don't mind some reading. There's a few good tutorials here on Rollitup that will walk you through it.

Other than that you may want to pick up a light controller that you can plug all your ballasts into and control the night/day cycle. I know Sentinel makes a unit that can control your lights, temps, humidity, and CO2 levels all in one.

its either 120v or 240v. what kind of ballasts did you get? you can probably just send them back and get the 240v cords. the reason you want to run them 240v is that most light controllers have 240v receptacles. just cause ifyou ran them 120v you would need to pull a lot more amps of the panel which means you would have to run much thicker wire to the controller. like in your situation...3600w wired 240v would only draw about 17amps. you could run 12 gauge wire for that. if they are wired 240v though that's 33amps which mean 8 gauge. just a more efficient and safer way to run them. i would look into it.
