Do you guys think it was right that the Vietnam troops were blamed and called baby killers when they came back?
no i take responsibility for my OWN actions. We are an inland surface-well rig
do you understand what happened in the Gulf? could've happened to anybody. shit happens...and oil is still the number one commodity in all of the industrialized world
I feel good about my job, providing domestic resources to people that need it. I would NOT feel good about my job if I were paid to kill people
You are right, but I just think you place the blame on the wrong people, the ones that pump out propaganda and profit from wars are the cause of the wars. It is always poor men fighting rich men's wars. Should we blame the victims of the propaganda or the propaganda machines?i'm here at home providing a resource for my fellow country men (well, a lot of the crude we drill does get exported. i wish i could put a stop to it, but i have no control over that).
why should my money go to a bunch of armed thugs to go into ANOTHER country and bomb/shoot people? does this do ANYTHING to make me feel more safe or secure?
Or does it only create more anti-American sentiment and hate/violence in form of retaliation becomes an issue...
No need for guilt my man.FUCK! i'm just a rat chasing a piece of paper through a maze like everybody else...how do we reconcile our guilt of sin?
I'll say this to ANY veteran's face: I was watching an episode of GANGLAND on TV...these guys SEEK gang membership and SEEK the further moral, ethical and spiritual destruction of their own neighborhoods. They'll tell you "it's no way to live a life"...as they're popping clips into a .38 and speaking of their territorial or financial "dominance" on TV as if they're trying to glorify the lifestyle.
You mean you hate the violence, you hate the lifestyle, but you just can't get your actions in synch with your moral high-ground?
If you want to go KILL PEOPLE (cuz that's what these fucking troops do)...do it on your own time, on your OWN DIME...DON'T MAKE THE ENTIRE COUNTRY PAY FOR IT
The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral,
begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy.
Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it.
Through violence you may murder the liar,
but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth.
... Through violence you may murder the hater,
but you do not murder hate.
In fact, violence merely increases hate.
So it goes.
Returning violence for violence multiplies violence,
adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness:
only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.
