I have my grow tent in the upstairs of my house and i just switched to my 400 watt hps.
i use a inline fan to suck out the hot air and i have a speed controller n all that but fuck its not working it still too hot.
Ac is on in my house and there is a vent right near the tent... but i dunno if i should hook up the inline fan to suck cool air into the tent?
Also how will i keep humidity at the right level?
help plz any advice is appreciated

Your idea about hooking up a fan to purely put in cool air, could work, but keep in mind heat rises, and you said your ac is on in your house, is it a window unit or is it coming out from a vent for central air conditioning? If you have a room that you can try on the bottom level of your house or just a room that seems to always be cooler possibly moving your growing area to there. Just some little tips, hopefully they help!
Yeah thats what i have been thinking of doing, but gosh its a lot of work to move my tent and all other bullshit.
The ac isnt coming from window its from the vent goin through all rooms of the house.

Had a roommate that connected the bottom of his 4 x 4 tent to the houses supply diffuser to let the cold air pour in at the base of his (6) 5gal dwc buckets. He was then pulling air through one open end of his 1000 watt hps, ducting it out the top to his exhaust fan that sat on top of his tent... Sloppy stuff, but it worked: his temps and humidity were about 70 - 80F, 40 - 50%. I'm not sure this is the best approach for your setup, but if it's all you've got as an option, I would suggest you try it.

What temps ur ac on??
In my room i have a cooltube hooked up to a 4 inch inline. And keep the bottom vents open of my 3x3. And hook up the inline to pull the heat off the bulb and room.
And i have my ac on 81 durong the day and my temps dont raise at all maybe 1 or 2 degrees.
No window ac option u can get a small one for about 100 bones. Mine works well will drop my room about 10-15 degrees if needed.
Also how old are ur plants? Veg or flower?
And do u have another fan on ur plants?

wondrboy - I know whatever way im gonna get this to work is goin to be sloppy, but if it works then idgaf truely. I wanna bring in the cool air at the bottom of the tent. I am thinking to take out the vent and put ducting in there suckin into the tent you think it will work? I have my inline fan suckin hot air from top as well and it it blowing out toward the door of the room.

I think it is better than nothing. Connect it all up; just make sure your tent is zipped up so that your exhaust fan is pulling air out the tent from the light and in turn, vacuuming the cold air into the tent from the bottom. Try to use the same size or larger duct than the duct that connects to your exhaust fan. Let us know what happens.

Im going to try it when the light turns on in the morning. Ive only got 4 inch ducting to work with for now.
I have a little 65 cfm fan that can kind of direct airflow from outside the tent into the tent. Ill probly try it cuz fuck i have nothin to lose right about now. Gonna do all tht in the morning
any other suggestions or anything r welcome by u or anyone jus post on this

too late now there already into flower n some have pistils
I believe that would be for future reference. You can always fill a 5 gallon bucket up with ice and set it in there when it is very hot. It it will cool your tent down by 10F easy

Another better cheaper way is to take a 5 gallon bucket and fill it 3/4 of the way with water and if you have a deep freezer make room and freeze the bucket. that block of ice will take forever to melt even with the heat of a 400W hitting it. That will help keep it cool but make sure to keep the fans running strong so the evaporating water doesnt raise your humidity too much.

Never would of thought of that. It sounds like a good idea and ill probably have to do that if my other plan of sucking the air from the vent dont work. If that raised my humidity then it would work out too because humidity gets low in my house.

It's very true I should have had the lights on at night but sometimes i like to bring my plants outside on real nice day and i chill out drink a few beers with them.
Plus neighbour isnt problem so its cool like that

It's not too late. Just leave your lights off for an extra 12 hours one day and get into a new "lights on at night schedule". No harm done, only goodness.
I see what you are saying, but in my case im goin away this weekend and leaving my room mate to take care of my shit for me. i just need to keep it at a proper temp and humidity for him so he doesnt have any problems while im gone

When i was battleing heat and nothin was working. I resulted in buying co2 tank and regulator for 120. Lol
Since they like the higher temps with c02 and ur in flower. U got alot of options.
Weird how ur ac is at 68 and u still haveing truble. Do u have a big house? I dont see a tempchange with my light on during the day and im in vegas. Lol
