you are 100% correct on this matter. all i am saying though is that i don't think most of us really believe or are even trying to go and grow 3000 plants on a farm somewhere. if it becomes legal in the U.S. there are still going to be restrictions on the amounts and the age at which you can use them. cigarettes are legal in the U.S. i can legally go and buy a pack whenever i want. the u.s. government taxes them. so what you are saying is that cigarettes are just decriminalized but the laws are still in place. if the laws are still in place then how does the government tax and item recognized as illegal?

i also copied a post from wikipedia and i am speaking from experience. in argentina it is legal (no laws against it, can't be fined or detained) to possess small amounts for personal use as well as grow a certain number of plants in your home for personal use. to me that is LEGAL. if that were the case in the u.s. then there would be no need for commercial growers and there would be a hydro store on every corner. no one would need more than 2-4 plants. after a while everyone that smoked would have a few plants going. isn't that what we are ALL hoping for.
What are the laws regarding SALE of cannabis in Argentina??????? If you can't legally sell it, and the amount you can have are very small, then it's not really legal. How can it be? If you can't "legally" obtain a certain "product", then how is it really legal?:-?

i think we all can agree that lima beens don't get people high or alter mental or physical states. if they totally legalize marijuana don't you think they are going to place restrictions on the age with whcih you can use them and restrictions against driving while high. i think you are twisting around the logic to make a mute point.
i think you mean 'moot', lol.

driving restrictions falls under the 'regulate' part of legalizing, taxing, and regulating.

you can't sell moldy lima beans, can you? probably because of regulation.

but what do i know?

You've probably got to be a certain age to purchase lima beans too! lol! I bet if kids started smoking lima beans or making tea out of the roots..............I realize as I'm writing this that I'm really stoned! :o

if i could only have one can of lima beans, 3 lima bean plants, and no chance to buy lima beans at the farmer's market, i wouldn't call that legal at all.

that's not what i want at all.

i want it legalized, taxed, and regulated, like lima beans or any other crop (save the crops that are subsidized).

i want the government tax man so far up my ass that he's coming out my mouth. it won't bother me one bit as long as i am no longer labeled a criminal for my peaceful, non-violent, mutually beneficial actions.
In all fairness, "legal" doesn't mean entirely unrestricted. i can legally own and operate a rifle in CA, but not in an unrestricted way.
I also consider my prescription meds, scheduled and otherwise, to be legal.

However since weed is specifically and (with two living exemptions left iirc) completely prohibited under Federal law, it cannot be construed as "legal" in my home state so much as "decriminalized".

In defense of semantics, those can be the whole shootin match when attorneys become involved. There's real money in splitting infinitesimals. cn
