Super Soil 'Web' Question

I have spent a few hours trying to find and answer online for this, so I decided to ask. I made a 1/2 batch of super soil on April 26 following the recipe exactly. To date, no 'webs' have formed. Is this a problem?

The soil is moist. The cover is on. The garbage can is sitting in my garage and the temp seems fine. How fast do the web's tend to start? Anything I should do?

Well I can answer your first question, it is not a problem. I have made two half batches of super soil and only one of them showed visible signs of the web, yet they both performed beautifully. I think the reason my second one had the web was that it had more moisture than my first batch, but that is just speculation. As long as you followed the recipe you should be good to go, regardless of seeing a visible web or not

subbie, my last batch did not form a web at all for some reason, and i fretted about it, but it worked magically......don't sweat it.....as long as you followed the recipe, your golden....take care hun.......nugs

its there. sometimes it explodes, and its visible, like in moister conditions, and sometimes its not as visible. but it is there, unless you let your soil totally dry out.

Likely a lack of air. Too many people seal up their garbage cans of soil, even though air is needed. I turn my SS while cooking to keep aerobic and also cover the pails with fabric so it breathes.
