The real reason why you dont trim ur fan leafs

so thou I don't comment on most peoples grows because, who am i to tell someone else how to grow?...no matter how much i know or don't know, I would like to drop some school on some people on why you shouldn't cut Ur fan leafs...and the reason for this is ive seen to many people cut fan leafs because they think more light gets to the buds...and thats true...but in my opinion cutting fan leafs to get more light is very...very bad.

"this is why i don't cut my fan leafs"

...its simple....once you cut off your fan leafs ...the leafs that are growing in the buds will begin to grow bigger due to the fact that all your fan leafs are now chopped off.

ill make even more simple...

...leaf growth does not stop because you cut off the big leafs...all it does it make all the small leafs start growing bigger.
^^^^^^
so why is all this ^^^^^^^^^ a problem??...well thats easy to:

the bigger the leafs in ur buds are the more leafy the bud will taste...THO it might im prove keif production (thats another lesson lol)...if you want good tasting buds this is a problem.

...this is why i don't cut off (all my fan leafs)...i do trim some here and there if they are getting the way...but i never cut off all of them....not all at once...not over time...there is a reason why they are there.

The fan leaves on the plants are the solar panels of your plants energy, air and food systems. it has pores in its leaves that it resporates*/breathes with and absorbs its light energy with. i aboslutely always lollipop my plants and trim yellowing or browning fan leaves, but never pull good green leaves off of a live plant until the CHOP. haha that jus my opinion tho

I heard to cut them for the last 2 weeks (or when you're flushing) as you're going to cut the leaves soon anyways, and it takes longer to flush? Not sure. Comments?

Edit: Maybe nutes come out of the leaf via the stem and back into the rest of the plant too?

i heard that if u leave the sugar leaves on until right before u jar it it will slightly increase ur potentcy..soo pretty much dont trim until dry. i heard it harder to do tho..but ya know ppl "hear" alotta things lol

lol... I could seem them being more potent (higher THC percentage) but I don't see the yield being any greater. I'm wondering if the extra light for the lower half of the plant would produce more bud (even if a little lower in potency) ie. More bud less potency tradeoff

it doesn't matter if the buds are getting direct light as the leafs are what makes the buds bigger, not the buds getting more or less light as the leaves are what feeds the plant and makes the plants grow, including the buds, not the other way around..
so don't worry about buds being covered by leaves as the leaves are what makes big buds..

the light thing wud def work to increase yield. if everything else is good.

I love these guys, there are twenty+ threads that are just like this and in other areas where each side steps up to their soapbox to troll, yell at each other about which way is better and why.

You know what, both sides do it for a reason because it works the them.

Let's try to search first, maybe you can chime in on one of the many threads that many blowtards like yourself are spouting off why people should do this or that, really without anything but maybe you heard it "from a guy who lived next to a guy who pumped his gas while his wife ran into the store for Zimas that used to grow this way?"

I trim and I will gladly compare any of my "engorged trimmed leaf buds" to yours anytime, and now I am not saying this is the right way I am saying I thought outside the box and tried all kinds of things when growing, you know what some worked, some didn't. This works well for me, I trim fan leaves at day 24 then again around day 43 not all of them I do use common sense, but I have been known to cut a fan leaf just for looking at me wrong. You need to show them who is boss, a grower that my grand pappa told me that. Hmmm.. soapbox?

Here is a nice box of SLH that has weighed in at 4.5oz from 2.5 gallon dwc.. with almost 70% of fan leaves off in stages throughout flower. Now again not saying this is correct way to do it people, you do what you want to.. for me this is the way. See where I am going with this? I am not the only one, maybe we are just gods with plants (I doubt it) but you cannot start threads ranting on a subject that is to inconclusive to even compose a sound statement to back up your theory. Besides that people lie just to belong to a cause or a side anyway, so you cannot really take anyone's word for anything. /thread

Like the hostile humor guys, keep it up! As far as trimming, I take the fans blocking bud sites and do notice an increase in bud weight and not all leaf either.

I simply do not buy the idea that buds grow to their potential by staying shaded. I have not seen this first hand. If I have to trim the buds a bit more after taking the fans, so be it.

The admission that fan leaves taken, are then replaced with fresh bud leaves makes my point. Nature replaces the leaves taken and the newer ones will be more efficient anyway. Trimming much at a time stalls growth, will give you that.

Fan leaves are very important as stated by numerous people. Just food for thought. If you have a higher temperature climate and you struggle with controlling heat, I advise you approach trimming with head. As fan leaves play a major role in cooling the plant. Right now my white widow "poor thing" lost ALL seriously every single major fan leaf, has had sever burning and loss of growth.

This like I said is just food for thought. I believe you should trim for the benefit of an even light canopy. As well It makes perfect sense as to why trimming a good portion of the fan leaves produces bigger buds. Less energy spent maintaining the fan leaves and more sugar and starches sent to the bud. Only thing I cant wrap my head around is why that makes any sense. Seeing how photosynthesis is the sole factor in creation of sugars. Yet people have proven to get bigger yields by trimming. I have a theory maybe, but I don't want to type much more.
