like if they wear pink or blue?

cardboard potholders are a bad idea. they are going to harbor anything that likes water and ultimately disintegrate anyway. go pay the 69 cents for some real black pots, cheapskate.

if you look closely at the pots there is a plastic linning in them so maybe he was usning the cardboard as a light blocker for the roots around his plastic bottles or something.
that is a possibility.

I honestly don't buy it that most people are trying to " f--- up people " A lot of people have had success that made them happy, and are just stating their operations. THere will always be people with a wack more experience in growing , but to say that there's a malicious intent or just " stupid " advice from some cfl grower is harsh. Not all people can afford all the toys that make growing a huge success. A lot of US are new to indoor or advanced op's and might like a little understanding, There a experts with galleries that show that they know their craft. Yet they don't always agree... Us lower cast need love & understanding too !!

yeah i saw that before I posted, hence "potholder" and the suggestion to buy black pots ... it'll still hold moisture and invite fungi and pests.

I gotcha, didn't see that other thread. I think there should be some kind of accountability on here. I gave some guy some advice on here about hydro and some fucking idiot growing in soil with cfl's starts telling him some foul shit about growing with hydro??????? It's almost like people are trying to fuck up other peoples grows.
that's what the rep system/post count is supposed to be for (but is easily subverted).

Here are some examples:
Someone with very few posts with low rep would be questionable. Not necessarily giving bad advice but no track record of good advice either.

Someone with very few posts with a lot of rep could be considered giving excellent advice consistently but not very often. A person of few words but weighty ones (Earl comes to mind).

Someone with a lot of posts with low to moderate rep (like me) should be considered not very knowledgeable and/or gives bad or inaccurate advice.

Someone with a lot of posts with lots of rep should be considered trustworthy and consistently gives good advice (like FDD).

Yeah but I don't get the impression that the rep system is used very well. The problem is that many new users come on the forums only when they need advice, are frantic about their plants, and unfamiliar with the system. While these folks are undoubtedly most in need of expert advice - and most susceptible to bad advice - they do not contribute via the rep system as regular forum members would.

Add to that the fact that asking people to rep you would seem to make them feel thats the only reason they're helping, and you have a system that has limited merit. You're def right - it *should* work.

I hear what your saying, I'm no expert but I wouldn't chime in and tell someone something that I didn't know shit about. I've had more than my share of fuck-ups. I like to help people and give advice that works. Personally I think its harsh to fuck up someones grow (3mo of work) by giving bad advice or not having a clue what your talking about. Thats like giving directions to somewhere you have never gone.:peace::joint::peace:

I try not to chalk up to malice what I can attribute to ignorance. I know I've given my share of bad advice on these forums - but it was never intentional. I thought i was having pretty good luck growing and wanted to share my experience. But it often turned out that my plants were doing well IN SPITE of me, rather than because of me.

damn good thing it is a weed! :leaf:

seriously. it would be hilarious if weed was as hard to grow as orchids. those that could grow would make fortunes ... but be more easiliy caught ... so I guess it's good it's easy to grow.

email468 Man you hit it right on the head.. Good one. I've had a porch grow for 5yrs. with 6ft + plants. I've made so many miskakes it's not funny. What saved my stretchies might sound stupid to some pro but shit, it worked for me. Not professional, not even considered sane 1/2 the time but functional for my op. As email said they'll grow in spite of me... Good one :)
