id go with the new one, never used. 4 months will do nasty things to a filter.

600 Hps lumitec ballast
make sure that you get the tent set right you want has little curves in the ducting
that will come from the filter to your light.
don't over do the amount of plants in a 4/4 space then i would do no more than 2
just because seeds tend to come in packs of 5 everyone thinks of doing 5
you will get far more from the 2,they will receive more light.
get a ec pen,and a good nute package i used to use advanced but canna is the one
not to say i dont use advanced because i still do but just the big bud at week two till
week four then i add pk 13/14 from canna 3 weeks before the plants are cooked [ready]
Make sure that you keep the light has close has possible,this is the way a lot of new growers lose so much weight wise.i have the light inces of the top untill the buds are well on there way about week 7 of flowering then i raise the light just so the spread of light is greater for the final weeks.But no matter what the strain i all ways flower for 9/10 week you will be amazed at the amount of bud is lost through growers takeing them down at 8 week the final 3 weeks are when the weight is gained by all strains.seed companys want you to belive that plants will be done in 8 week but there are not many strains IF THERE GROW RIGHT that will be cooked in 8 week more like 9/10.Dont rush through the grow go easy on the nutes and you should get a decent amount i had a tent that was 4 x 4 x 8,i did 2 per grow and used to get a min of 8 oz but more of the time 9/10 bone dry per plant.If possible get two auto pots and a water but there not that much but the differance yeild wise is un real good luck....................tyke

.............ebay this ( 600w maxibright ballast ) carbon filters generally have 12 month lifespan but the budget only have 9 months, id get a new 1

Hey thank you for all the good information this will surely help me alot, I will have 4 plants for 1 600 watts in 4x4x7.5. Now my new question is...is it possible to pull out a P out of this? Anything is possible but how likely is it for someone like me? My stain is most likely gonna be 9 1/2 weeks Chem dog 5.... I gotta bet going with a guy friend hater, If I push out a P I get a really nice hand bag I really want....LOL if I don't i own him a big bottle of Grey goose.....I took the bet...
It's ok just tell me the truth how likely is it to happen..Is it a good bet? I thought so...

How long do you plan on runnin veg to pull 112 grams per plant? Plan on doing scrog, lst or something? Not sure if I personally would've made that bet (Goose is expensive) but hey anythings possible!

hell, you can get two pounds if you have the genetics, i've never heard of the strain before so i don't know if it is a good yielder or not. maybe he knows more about the strain than you do so he made the bet knowing that the strain you are growing is a low yielder.
even the lowest yielding stains can produce given the right care and training. i've had .9 grams per watt from cheese and that is one viney plant, i also had 1.4 grams per watt from critical+ the quality is nowhere near the same however.
if you have seen this plant grown before, does it grow one main cola or lots of side branches?
if it is a strain that likes to make big top colas i'd say grow 16 plants in 5l pots with a 5 day veg and cut off the side branches shortly after switching them on to 12/12. you'll end up with 16 2 foot tall plants which are nothing but bud, you will get one pound easily.
if the strain is a bushy sativa dominant plant i'd say grow 4 in 18l pots with a 2 week veg, maybe top them once as clones to get them really bushy.
i have tried 2 plants in a tent, they were squashed up against the side of the tent in two corners but the other two corners of the tent you could see the floor, i could have trained them slightly better but it doesn't make as much sense as having 4 plants. you aren't making proper use of the space if you look at it from a physics point of view.
a pound is easily achievable given the right care, good luck with your first grow.

I plan vegging for about a week or two, I think the strain is a Indica, it's sort of medium not too short, not too long, more on the fat leaf size for what I've seen. The strain look like it has one large main cola, and the size one are not too bad either. Where can I find out how to top them. I will be manually feed these plants, how many times should I feed them per day? And someone told me to turn the light on at night for better heat regulations. what time is the best time to turn on my light at night and why?

tuned in kinda late. but my input:
keep the ballast out of the growing area
the cord on your hood should be long enough to situate it nicely
i usually dont hook up my filter til i begin BLOOM stage
as long as the hood has the ducts you're GOOD
what i do is throw one inline fan in the corner on floor
(extracting cool air from outside the tent)
put a "T" joint to the output of that inline,
one to duct the hood the other to cool the tent
from the hood, that ducting goes OUT
another inline fan up top. ABOVE the hood
mount the filter straight onto the inline
and inline fan, straight out
then a rotating fan.. you should be cool enough doing so
the whole "running at night" is a good idea
i'd do so, after you know major appliances wont be in use
7PM'ish?
and as for the bet... i think it depends mostly on your growing medium
i personally, didnt pull a P on my first run
