Iv nothing against Ron Paul, alot of his ideas are common sense and quite sound...but to be quite frank, Iv more chance of swimming to the US and winning the Presidency (as an illegal immigrant) as Ron Paul has of being nominated....

So who you gonna vote for in the "possible eventuality" Paul doesn't get the nod from the God-party?

So currently it looks like we'll have an "Ear Surplus" and at least another visit to his "ancestral home" from the Messiah for/in the next 4 years?

Discuss...

I'm going to vote for Ron Paul anyway. There are several reasons: A.) No one can say to me I can't bitch about the government because I voted for who won or because I didn't vote. B.) Because I'd rather vote for someone who has no chance than someone I don't agree with. Dad consistently reminds me of the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror VII in which both presidential candidates are replaced by aliens who, when presented with someone who says they'll vote for a third party candidate instead reply in a booming voice, "Go ahead! Throw your vote away!".

Why not run yourself? You've probably the same chance as Ron Paul realistically.

I'm going to pull a Jerry Seinfeld here "Ehh, nobody listens". :P
Ok well as Iv said, Iv nothing against him and I like his policies, Iv even adopted some of them into my personal political beliefs...

BUT... Do you realistically see Ronnie eating Christmas dinner in the White House? Or even debating against Obama? (Which I think he'd actually do well at and may force Obama to actually speak out on certain issues he usually dodges, eg. Marijuana.)

Probably not no, never claimed I did, just saying I'd rather vote for a loser that I agree with than a winner I don't.

Are you being serious? How about end the drug war...bring the troops home...bring back civil liberties(patriot act, NDAA)...do I need to continue? because I could go on forever or do I get my cookie now? and YES the pres can do all of those things on his own accord.

The President can repeal legislation already passed by both houses and signed into law? Or he can merely lobby Congress to change legislation?

How many in Congress would vote for his ideals?

Paul trying to pass his legislation would be 5x harder than Barry trying to pass Obamacare.

He would have congress if that gets them votes but he doesn't need ONE to do anything I mentioned or many other thing...Exectuive Orders, Vetos, etc.....he can also just plain encourage police to stop arresting people for drugs AT THE VERY LEAST he can order that drug laws are not enforced. Ron Paul has said he would have non-violent drug offenders pardoned from federal prison even, he can definitely bring the troops home immedietly ......blah blah blah..wheres my fucking cookie?

same thing I tell everyone every fucking year when I am bitching about the president obama/bush/clinton and they spout this bullshit....FUCKING GOOGLE IT! THE PRESIDENT CAN END THE DRUG WAR HIMSELF! (I would just link you some documents but they are fucking buried and everytime takes me several hours to dig it up, so just google it yourself if you don't believe me, there is multiple ways the president can end the drug war himself or at the very least promote and encourage the end of it and do things that prevent it from going on)

Dad throws this at me a lot and it's absolutely right. But why bother voting for a president at all if they have no power? How can we fix congress? It's gotta start somewhere, maybe if we had a president that would stand up to them something could be worked out. Probably not though, I just don't like saying "Well, it's useless, better go back to twiddling my thumbs and complaining", gotta try SOMETHING.

I felt the same way when I voted for Perot. I voted my conscience knowing he wouldn't win, so did a lot of other citizens. It just ended up being a vote for Clinton, my last choice among the candidates. I'm certainly not telling anyone how to vote, but make no mistake, if Romney ends up being the Republican candidate, a vote for Ron Paul is as good as a vote for Obama.

The warm fuzzy feeling of being able to say "I didn't vote for him" will quickly wear off as you watch Obama dry hump the Constitution. Supreme court justice appointment alone is worth voting for Romney, IMHO.

If Obama will dry hump the Constitution I fear what Romney will do to it. He's a businessman and a scumbag first and foremost in my eyes and while I hold no love for Barry I'd rather see him sitting there than Romney. Don't get me wrong I dislike them both immensely but if you have to make me choose, I'm not going to choose the Mormon Masshole Businessman to run the country. But there might be some Maine bias in there too. Missouri compromise ftw!

It's a two-party system you idiots! You vote on the lesser of two evils. That's how it works. Sorry, but Ron Paul is out now and beyond that there's simply just no room for idealism in American politics anymore. Yes I wish Ron could've gone further and clinched the nomination, but I'm also a realist and realize that just ain't gonna happen at this point.

Voting for Ron Paul, writing yourself in, voting for Charlie Sheen, or whomever is just a complete throwaway of a vote. You'd be much better off vegging at home and watching American Idol instead... as if most of you were even gonna show up to vote anyways, lol!
