Just got in. It's 4:43 a.m. here and I saw a butt load of meteors. Two large fireballs (very exciting), and one OH-MY-GOD-SOMETHING-IS-IN-THE-BUSHES moment. Turned out to be my stupid ugly ass dog. I was armed with a lantern and a tequila bottle. The dog was nearly bludgeoned to death by Jose Cuervo Especial Gold (hecho en Mexico). The cat egged it on. She never liked that dog.

Anyway, fun night.

I was out of it by midnight ... bowl of White Widow bubble did stuff to my vision.
But this morning just before 8am there was a hellacious thud. i thought something heavy had hit the house. But there was a rumble after that, traveling from west to east, suggesting a sonic boom. Fireball? Come to think of it, minutes earlier there was a flash of light through the blinds, from halfway up the sky but to the north, where the sun ain't. I didn't see a likely smoke trail though, so who really knows? cn

<edit> Oooo! Found this.

Cn, that is very cool.

It was cold and cloudy couldn't see a thing. :-(
Oh you just know I'm KICKING myself for not getting up to look after that odd glint.
Four years ago, I lived in a different house which had south-facing windows. It was August; Perseid season. I saw a very bright light come through the blinds and thought "oh, someone is using high beams on Demented Sniper Canyon Road." I frequently had that happen. But this one looked and felt different, and then too i thought "hmmm, fireball, maybe". Next day it was in the papers and at the correct time, too. That's twice now!! :cuss: cn

Here in Nor Cal some booms from the meteor were heard this morning. So far Armageddon has not arrived.

I hope Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck are getting ready to land on the sucker and blow it up! ;)
