first off ive read that jesus does not want sacrifice only mercy. but from first birth, rebirth, till near death you always have people who beg the "god wants you to change" bit. always about how your outward appearence SHOULD be and what kinda car you drive, the home you own shouldnt look too big. preachers shouldnt live above their congregation(i thumbs up that i saw it in the bible once). so why is it americans always believe you need to change to be more like christ. christ stayed the same for 33 years untill he died. O and i bet you didnt know jesus was kinda of a know it all to his priests. it wont show it in the bible, but allot of the dead sea scrolls will show he acted a little less humble. now that last statement is to even things up. so what do you think?(besides i need better spelling and grammar) do some things really need to be changed or would it not make a difference?

He didn't seem so humble in the bible, either: 'I am the way', 'I am the truth', 'I am the light'. Should've saved some pages with 'I am the SHIT! Ya'll better recognize, now act like you know...'

Most of todays "ministers" are false teachers and Jesus warned us about them. Read the Bible for yourself. Let God himself speak to your heart as you read. NO ONE can teach you about God because no one has seen God or knows God but Jesus. If you want to know who Jesus is for real you must be "born-again" from the Spirit of God which gives us the "Spirit of Truth".
He will reveal Himself to whom He will through His Word, The Holy Bible. " Ya but it was written by man and they changed it." Not exactly. They interpreted it from Greek and Hebrew to many different languages without changing it or loosing its meaning. Its word for word, line upon line, precept upon precept.
God can create the universe and create our bodies from dirt. He can absolutely stop a man from changing His word. He sent Jesus to die for all mankind. I think its to big a thing or to important, the salvation of mankind, for God to allow the "WORD" to be changed by man. We are powerless against the Almighty. People warp His word everyday but the truth remains, even if we lie or misinterpret His word.

It is such a horrible book with such a horrible message and morals, written horribly. I was hoping that it was changed beyond recognition throughout the ages and that the original was noble and amazing, but your post stopped my optimism in its tracks...

Books were written by men, therefore.... books are fallible. especially when said books were written by wandering desert cultists.

With all due respect the bible has changed a lot since 400AD. Are you asserting that the Codex Sinaiticus (The oldest known bible in existence) is word for word, precept upon precept the same as a copy of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church Bible? They don’t even have the same number of books in them.

As the saying goes, “Actions speak louder than words”. Yet I see legions of Christians who insist that we trust biblical interpretations over the evidence that surrounds us. If you believe that god created the universe and you want to study god’s creation, you will learn far more by actuall analysis of (running experiments on) the universe, instead of deferring to a book of dubious origin. Forging religious texts has been done countless times. I’m not aware of anyone who has created a false universe in order to deceive believers. So why prefer the book?

If god exists, he must be really frustrated. Here he went and created this totally awesome universe, with just the right number of dimensions and slightly uneven distribution of mass so that beings like us could come into existence and ponder the nature of the universe… and what do we do? Reject all that data, write up a book of mythology and then fight over it…. That’s seriously fucking depressing. If you believe in god and want to show him respect, then quit insulting his creation by denying it.
