Do we have any engineers here??? Please explain these numbers for me.

I'm working on vibration control. When I'm touching my prototype I can feel the reduction of vibration. But, that isn't enough so had my prototype tested.

All the test facility will say is it is very good results but I couldn't get them to explain what that means. They said something about reducing the vibration by a factor of 10 in the order of magnitude. WTF, does that mean? I know it's good but what...

I need to know how significant these numbers are and no one is telling me. I think they want more money for a more in depth explanation.

To me "reducing the vibration by a factor of 10", means reducing it to 1/10 of what it is now.

In other words, the vibration is ten-times too strong.

Well What part did you get tested? Handles bars, axial, motor...ect

Ill grab my hand book
kind of need to know other things like where are the forces generating. I am gonna guess that that its a motor.

Ok, it is a new type of earth compactor. We measured on the heavy steel lower shroud and misc part inbetween it and the handle. We measured on top of the motor. On and around our system and on the handle where the operator will touch it.

What ever you had tested started out with a lot of vibration, Then for some reason if dropped off . Then went right back up toward the end. Its my reading any way . Do you know what they used to check the vibration with?

Point 1 is lower connection from the body of the equipment to my system.

Point 2 is top of motor

Point 3 is upper connection from the system to the handle.

Points 4 and 5 are on the handle.

Points 6 the heavy plate above the working flat head.

see that makes a huge difference. Because your max was saying it had a cycle of a little less then 1/2 inch per/sec. If that is the shroud you would be fine because that is the machine smashing down to compact whatever you need to compact.

The optimum for your machine would have the largest cycle possible on the compacting end while not disturbing the motor, and trying to get the handles as close to zero as you can. Is it like a jackhammer style.

Seems to me you have accomplished what you set out to do. The handle had the lowest vibration of any thing. Is this what you wanted.Dam good selling point any way

I would say if
Points
4 & 5 : are your handles
3 : is the motor
2 & 6 : are the compacting end
1 : is somewhere on the chassis by a damper aka "spring"

Then you have good numbers

It actually is an orbital motion done vertically.
