Question about heat/thermal imaging detection.

Total paranoid noob question!

I going down the route of using cfl's do to cost & heat. I wanted to use led's but the cost is a problem. I noticed a lot of you guys use HID's etc but I'm concerned over the heat they give off. Would you stick out like a sore thumb if the cops went over your house with a thermal imaging camera? How do you guys combat this?

I wouldn't get paranoid till 1000w hid or more. And that's being on the safe side.
Tink of portable heater? Ther 1500-2000w.

ya man for real i have kitchen lights that have t8 tubes 3 of them could be growing right under that and it would change nothing on heat scanner

1000w and over starts to show something suspicious if their not cool tubed but more importantly with the sudden spike in energy..

In uk we don't exhaust out the window. Well unless wanna get caught. Get 400w hps or for tiny bit extra 600w. Will need fans to cool it but so much more worth it. 400w cfl heat be comparable to 400w hps.

yeh unless u start going silly with lights 1k watts+ ur ok mate shit i have coptors over my house evry othernight spot lights on my roof sortov thing

dont worry about it just dont go divvy with lights

Like mentioned above, I'd say if you're gonna go for 400 watts of CFLs, an HPS would be nicer.

A 400 watt HID with an air cooled hood would be easier to control heat over 400 watts of CFLs.

Flir cannot be used randomly in the US. It requires a warrant to be used to collect evidence. If they feel the need to get a warrant and use Flir then they already have you in their radar. Just icing on the cake.........

400wtt hps can be cooled using a single 4" rvk ...... even 6k hps can be cooled so the heli cant pick up, it;s all about venting the heat out the room

Hmmmmm yes and no. Winter would make sense. Summer would look bit strange heat pumping out a chimney. Just vent into same room or different room and cool that room. Leave window and door open so heat distributes through house and will be fine.

I'll be growing in the attic in a grow tent to start with mate.

The attic can get waaaay to hot WITHOUT lights making heat. I would put the tent in the cellar or in a bedroom with an a/c in the window.
Buy a 600w hps ballast with a 600w mh conversion bulb for veg. Get a 6" air cooled reflector hood and a 6" inline fan with 6" ductwork and exhaust out the window. You'll be fine.
Ive been on leo's radar for years and exhaust right out my front window by the main street. Fuck em. If they want you they'll get you regardless. Ive had police and telephone line workers right outside the window and they didnt smell anything. Also Ive got busted mailing clones federally and I still grow like its legal. Either you can withstand paranoia or you'll drive yourself crazy. If they come they come. Just try to cover your ass. No smell. No tell. No sell. Other than that its all chance and politics.
Im not worried about getting busted because of jail. Im worried about loosing some good smoke and all my equipment.

I would never grow in attic if was me but seen it done with no problem. Going to sound stupid but IF was me and my paranoia I would vent out top tent and down through the floor into a bedroom or something.
