please help!! dual hose ac and co2!

Okay I bought a 12k BTU portable dual hose AC to cool my sealed co2 enriched room. The intake and exhaust are in the basement window. My co2 is still being sucked out somewhere! I thought dual hoses didn't use any of the rooms air?

Make sure you a/c exhausts are at least facing different direction on the window. You could be negating the air being sucked in by blowing hot air right on the intake hose.

Dual hose a/c units do not exhange air in the room nor do they exhaust air out of the room. You either have a leak somewhere or you aren't losing Co2.

Air cooled hoods are the most likely culprit. If you are using air cooled, use foil tape on all of the joints and seams on your reflectors and ducting. A fan drawing 300+ cfm through your room could also be sucking lots of your co2 out through a little leak.

Not running air cooled hood. There is no exhaust at all in the room. The only exhaust I'd the one on the ac. I have 2 6"inline fans with carbon filters to scrub the air and cover up the smell. The room is 1300 scf.

If you have no exhausts, the filters aren't being exhausted, and the air conditioner is hooked up correctly then I can't think what your problem is. Good luck.

Because before u had the AC hooked up my co2 monitor would stay at 1500the ppm for about 40 mins the the co2 would kick ob for about 3 mins. Now its turning on every 5 mins for 5 mins.

Well that pretty much says it all. Your AC isn't performing as advertised. The only thing i can think of that you could do to cause this would be to lengthen the vent hoses. If that's not it, I would question if your AC is going to work for you. May have to look at other models.

maybe your plants r using the co2 more now. 40 minutes with no new co2 being added seems a little long. i may be wrong. so dont get angry and start yelling at me.

Either the AC is sucking air out or it is creating positive pressure and pushing it out through cracks. I would bet on the AC leaking. what brand is it?

Run a flame around your door seal and which way it goes to find out which.

Which portable unit is it? If it 's the portable unit with 2 hoses that comes from the grow shop the compressor is not sealed and it most definitely does leak co2. Don't even try going sealed with that unit, save yourself the hassle. (some people have DIY sealed it themselves with weatherstripping but I don't know how they did it and I didn't feel comfortable doing it). That being said the unit works great in a non sealed environment (I have to add a little humidity)

Oh I'm also gonna be purchasing a minisplit due to the heartache this unit caused me

It is a soleus air. 12k dual hose portable AC. With dehumidifier and fan functions. I bought it at sears.

I can't imagine that it would be too hard to find the source of the leak. Take the cover off the AC and look for the obvious. Follow the air flow through the unit from it's input to it's fan. Look for any points air can enter this airflow from within the unit before it enters the fan and seal it up.
Sounds like a problem that can be solved with some duct tape and foam weather stripping.

My room isn't even close to air tight. There's a 4" hole that all of my cables pass through as well as an interior grade door that is poorly sealed. I'm getting over 3 weeks on my current 15# co2 tank running at 1000ppm with a 200 ppm dead band.

A lot of dual ac's are not perfectly sealed. The easiest way to find the leak would be to run a smoke test and see where the smoke is escaping. You can also go down to almost any grocery store and buy dry ice for a few buck and then put it in water. If your ac is indeed leaking through small openings on the inside, you might be able to get some hvac tape in there to cover any leaking seams

Only thing you should do if your running sealed is get a controller that can seperate the co2 output when the cooling is happening yeah you may lose a little co2 if you get a nice size unit but. you want to remove stale co2 anyway. If you cant get a controller then you really shouldnt use co2 with an a/c unit. Myself i just ran into heating problems i bought the whynter 1200 btu dual hose unit. It comes on for 2 min and is off every 30 min or so but when its activated i have a sentinel chhc-4 which splits my co2 and cooling. i haqve noticed it takes it from 1550ppm to 1520ppm in the 2 min so it depends on whats better for you. also set you a/c on a platform higher up so it cools the top air more then the canopy air, Myself i have it on a rolling dolley from homedepot they cost 19 bucks and hold 500lbs.....

What size room are you in and how many watts are you running? I have the sentinel evc2 environmental controller. My 12k BTU runs for 20 mins then is off for 20 mins. My rooms 10'x15'x7' with 2 air cooled 1000's and 2 600w in open hoods.

Just thought I would toss this in the mix: my portable AC draws fresh air across the compressor inside it and that air is sucked into the output hose on my dual hose model.

So if there are any vents along the side or back of your unit it might be sucking fresh air for the compressor to cool.
