Bob, everyone needs a doctors recommendation to qualify. If the doctor sees fit, then the recommendation is granted.
You sound bitter towards patients for a perceived "false pretenses" being used to qualify, but isn't it the doctors writing these scripts? Who are you or I to get between a doctor and his/her patient? Would you rather have the government decide who is worthy of a script? Should the gov't also decide if you qualify for other medical treatments? Where is the line drawn?

The difference is simply that within that group, there are 2 types of people. Honest, sincere people, with valid medical conditions and or the wish to help others, and people who hopped on to profiteer, or use a med law to "legalize" recreational use, or just to complain about how all their rights in all aspects of their knife are controlled by forces they must fight eternally..

95% of all cannabis arrests are for simple possesion, the other 5% are for criminal activity that also invovled cannabis. that means 5% of the population using cannabis are likely truely criminal element.

Why would the passing of a law, that takes a totally controlled substance, a class 1 drug, and makes it available to almost anyone, REDUCE cannabis arrests in your mind?
Are you so naive as to think that 1000's of new people didn't get cards with profiteering hopes..that the people opening dispensaries were all just caring honest people? Please, tell me it ain't so.
The med law allowed tons of new people into the "cannabis /criminal" category you described. There are tons of growers far exceeding their limits...tons of people "farming"...not care giving.....please stop.
Hey, I agree that our AG isn't friendly at all to medical cannabis, but it's not stopping the progression of this law. Yes, there are going to be "test cases"....yes there are going to be arrests. But they are not abusing their power. Most of the major cases, have resulted in favorable changes to the cannabis laws. They have all aided in the clarification of the law. And some have just plain sucked...mostly the p2p ruling. But I really expect that to be changed soon. The system is working....like the system or not...

333.26422 Findings, declaration.Sec. 2. The people of the State of Michigan find and declare that:
2. Findings.
(a) Modern medical research, including as found by the National Academy of Sciences' Institute of Medicine in a March 1999 report, has discovered beneficial uses for marihuana in treating or alleviating the pain, nausea, and other symptoms associated with a variety of debilitating medical conditions.
(b) Data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation Uniform Crime Reports and the Compendium of Federal Justice Statistics show that approximately 99 out of every 100 marihuana arrests in the United States are made under state law, rather than under federal law. Consequently, changing state law will have the practical effect of protecting from arrest the vast majority of seriously ill people who have a medical need to use marihuana.

That has been accomplished already. Now, those masquerading as care givers so they can profiteer, and those creating illnesses and coughing up for motel doctor certs, and a host of other people abusing the law, had a bad day.
