Cornell West wrote a book titled "Jews and Blacks: A Dialogue on Race, Religion, and Culture in America" which talks about the subject and the contradiction of the term. Also check out "The Myth of Black Progress" by Alphonso Pinkney. The term is no longer used in scholarly or social works because it has been deemed contradictory and useless.

I used to think the same way too. I didn't get into my heritage and literature till my last 2 years of undergrad. It was like a light popped on in my head. I do think a lot of it is just hot air but there are some really valid points and theories in the field.

Convenient and quite telling that you pick Pinkney and Cornell West to attempt to back your play with , both of them being of the radical stripe similar to Jeremiah Wright and entirely USELESS to race relations and eminently USEFUL to racial separatists of all stripes.
