Although there are many factors that we probably don't know about that go into choosing a recipient, personally, I think it should have gone to a younger person.

2000 heart transplants a year. 3000 on waiting list. Worst case scenario to get a heart transplant: 18 months. Where is the preferential treatment?

Most heart recipients are over 50. These are usually patients who have gone through a wide array of previous treatment. Cheney did. I fail to see any favoritism.

I can not see how many of you can assume there was a younger person more fit for the heart at that time, there are so many factors to take into consideration. If there were preferential treatment, wouldn't you think the liberal press would have jumped on that one?

that doesn't sound fair to me. seniors have slaved for decades, paying into a system that is supposed to allow them to have a certain standard of living when they retire. they've paid taxes for 50 years and more, endured hardships without the social services that so many of us take for granted today, worked their fingers to the bone, and have now earned some relaxation, ironically when they are too rickety to enjoy it. and somehow it is appropriate to just let them die because they "used up enough oxygen already."

a lot of these youngin's that you might prefer get the heart first could in theory be as useless as a tit on a bull, lazy noncontributing leeches dismantling our society. how is age an appropriate criterion for a transplant?

I might have to get a heart transplant 20% function. I hear stemcells is the way of the future. I was in the hospitable last week and a female DR. told me my drug test was positive for cannabis. DUH, then she gave me a lecture about marijuana. I smoke FUCK IT!!

A doctor tried that with me and I whipped out my medical card. He shut the fuck up. Plus he has my medical history showing my reactions to medications. Dumb ass.

It's no where near that simple, nor is that necessarily true. Typically a man Cheney's age would have a much harder time getting a new heart than someone younger. Age is undoubtedly a consideration, that said, you can't draw any conclusions one way or the other and there's not much point in doing so IMO.

this is about Cheney, not elderly people. I'd give a heart to a 110 year old without qualms.
Cheney is different. But this is just my opinion based on hatred of him.
