Is there a point to autoflowers, or are they just for people who can't set a timer?

They seem pretty dumb - can't clone em, can't control how big they get.

I guess outdoors they might be good try to and harvest around July?

Whats the point of autoflowers?

i got a pack to try in my yard. putting them in my hoop house next month hoping to harvest something in time for my birthday. going to put some plushberry as well but that wont finish until oct/nov

Auto-Flowers are great for novices in my opinion ,
1 light regime , constant enviroment less stress....
Somebody must like them , seedbanks seem to sell enough,
People who grow Bonzai style plants like them also....

Yeah, I can see why seed banks like them - you need about 10,000 more seeds than if you cloned.

Just wanted to make sure there wasn't a reason to buy them I was unaware of.

I was sucked in by the idea of eight weeks from seed to harvest. My three nirvana short rider from (a questionable) summer 2012 batch will take 11 at least.

i grow autos all the time-62 to 70 days from seed and i keep fresh week year round some gets pretty good.i raise photos for bulk but the rapid growth of the autos is amazing in a low bushy area does wonders and can be harvested outside before anyone starts lookin for it----.------dont need to clone anything that fast ,too easy to make seed----i guess to each there own!!!!

in theory it could allow two crops in one season... plant outside twice in a season... I assumed the technology came from the food industry, yielding two crops in one season could be an incredible achievement if it were applicable to other mass produced crops... I'm sure the farmers that could double their harvests would be interested.

My first grow was with some reg plants and 5 short stuff blue him. diesel. The bhd were all uniform and alike witch I thought was cool and grew to what short stuff said. I didn't end up keeping a full 18/6 or more sched due to the reg plants that my attention was more focused on and I had no growing room. But all in all they were some wierd stoney plants almost felt like your face went numb and couldnt feel it, kinda a creeper but again I kicked it to 12/12 about 7 weeks in and chopped at 9-10 def to long cause this was my first attempt indoor and I didn't know shit.

Then I tried a outdoor grow with delioucous seeds Big devil #2 guerilla grow and this ended up being burnt to a crisp from 103deg whether for 2 days or the field sprayer nailed them but we have grown in spot before with fem seeds with no probs even in hot whether and field sprayer doing a burn.

My take on ruderalis plants is they like the cooler whether maybe since they are a northern strain but this is just my 2cents on the exp I had there is a lot of peeps on here that could school the shit on ya about them. But for me I need to find my super sativa out there somewhere.

Or instead of buying seeds, make some of your own each run? Maybe get some new seeds once in a while to keep it fresh? Seems alot more economical to me than buying seeds every harvest.

why not go 1 light regime with regular seeds...as in 12-12 from seed....

I grow both i grow photos out doors and auto's indoors.I havent seen to many 12/12 grows that can produce 3-5 ounces a plant. I just do seed runs so cloning doesnt matter to me. Auto's are plenty potent now with great varieties arriving every year. Once you learn how to grow auto's you will get heavey yields every crop. Growing autos outdoors lowers yield as autos thrive best on 20/4 or more of light , that being said you can always plant more for a bigger harvest.why spend 4 months growing photo's when you can get just as much yield every 70 days, no light cycles to worry about and auto's require less nutrients.got a son in law growing photos right now we both planted in nov. Ive got one crop done and another will be done in 25 day. I for one know a lot of ppl have figured auto's out as half the seeds at tge banks are always sold out.

Oh almost forgot you can contol there size just plant them in small pots like 90 percent of ppl and then bitch about how auto's dont yield.
