I bought a new light setup... 250watt HPS/MH kit I wanted something efficient for my space and less heat, and good thing because with this 250watt im sitting at 80-83F...and its a big closet..and let me say anothing thing....this HPS light, that light spectrum sure does fuck with the human eyes LOL!!! everything is like orange n shit, my whole plant that looked green is now damn bright orange n yellow hahahahahahah so TRIP OUT MAN!!! oh yea, whys this thread dead all of a sudden?

Cuz you stopped posting hahahaha Blow a fan over that bulb i put mine on the ground and blow up should reduce the heat coming off that bulb i can almost touch my 150hps with a 120mm 110cfm fan blowing over the blub also helps with cfls. Your going to notice a big difference going from flowering with cfl to hps man your going to love it

Has anyone ran into PH dropping like crazy in these coffee cans? 5.9 yesterday and I woke up it was @3.9!!! I will throw up some pics, its the big one I am talking about. 3 weeks old as of Tuesday. No root problems and it is looking pretty good I think. Any advice would be great, thanks.

How often are you changing the res and what kinda water are you using please state the PH of said water going into the res and what nutrients you are using. I run tap water with a 6.0 ph and super natural for my nutrients. I change my res like 1 time a week clean and make the res clean pour new water and nute solution and im good to grow never have a single problem besides some root rot and thats a easy fix with water and hydrogen peroxide.

I am using some Great Lakes Nutes that I had laying around. R/O water that usually is @ 6.0 after I put in the Nutes. PPM right now is 650 and has been for a week. I change the res weekly and top throughout the week with either R/O water or water with the nutes depending on whether or not the PPM went down

lol! i thought he same thing since pg 56 was pure mike8427...lol anyhoo, yea Man i got a fan blowin on her the best I can, my coffee cans are in the way of getting it closer, but I can always rearrange! those HPS and MH bulbs are HUGE like wtf who does that? lmao! bro i was just thinking that, I cant wait to see the diff...since norma is a huge as plant and taking up most the light, my 2 coffee cans are getting just a TAD of that HPS light, so Ill see how those flowers turn out compared to the side thats touching CFL,...I still got the CFLs in there...norma takes the HPS light, when shes done ill scoot the other 2 under it its a badass light no doubt!! i got a wing reflector, i wanted the cool tube but I was on a budget and figure i could upgrade later ...water curing is on its 7th day today, so i guess ill just let em dry out now infront a fan,....had to cure a new set up buds(against my will) since norma had another tragedy...i droppped my dehumidifier on her from about 3 ft and broke a shit of colas but its almost done tho thank goodness, haha, see how I treat my ladies? droppin shit on em, almost killen her, the cat almost killin her, she probably wants out of this relationship hahahahha

@ nunia, try distilled....its less PPM like maybe 3ppm tops.. and more room to work with, its base PH is 7.0 but I never really PH'd my water, the feeding program I used(general hydroponics) always seemed to some how balance the PH and set it at 5.3+....the last feeding I use the PH is at 4.8, after like a day or 2 it shoots up to 5.6 stable, but i also have ph up/down on hand if needed......ive never tried RO water maybe calmag? lol i dunno wtf i just said right there, but distilled I love it.

MIke, congrats on the light! SlimJim is right on point, that fan in between the canopy and light really helps knock temps down! 80-83 is good just play with the angles and temp sensor and you will get it dialed in!

Oh and wait until you see what that hps does to the buds

Post up some pics of the buds in the water and when dry it will be helpful to others Glad you stepped up your lights to HPS man your going to love how much fatter they grow and it will reduce your flowering time as cfls take longer to finish out. So your ballast runs both mh and hps thats a good thing glad you choose one that accepts both and like you said you can always upgrade the hood to a cooltube or even hang it without a hood and try a vertical grow at some point. The main thing to buying new lights etc is being able to upgrade them down the road i wont buy anything unless i can upgrade it in some way Sry to hear bout norma if you dont already use zip ties you should you will find they are a growers best friend. Also if you did not get light yoyos i would suggest you get a set although with some of the smaller hoods and wattage bulbs you will need to place a weight on top to keep the side without the socket from raising on one side i use a 2lb dumbbell on mine works like a charm. Get some pics up man i want to see the progress and whats left of norma!

How big is your closet mike?

its a good size closet length wise..maybe 10-12 ft? depth is maybe 2.5/3ft, height is maybe 13-14 ft..lol but there is a shelf so I say about 6ft....

the light setup came with 2 yoyos, one seems to go up n down freely regardless of how tight the butterfly nut is...so i dunno wtf? im still using them since they are easy to raise and lower the light, i just paper clip the string works fine..i def will not put a weight on top lol, thats how i dropped the dehumidifier on norma, i bumped the light and there she goooessss lol....my pics are shitty, the light spectrum sure changed the camera lens, ill do my best, im dissapointed at the end results of the WC dry...it looks like shit, but I dont htink i did it right, maybe I dried it too fast, but still got me high, not the high I want, its the same high i had on last wks test nug, so im thinking this strain is gay...lol in another words i dont like it...im hoping my other 2 plants come on better, those I will try the air dry method to retain its flavours, also I dont know wtf im doing when it comes to drying and cutting, so ill still need to read that phase but ya never know lol on to the pics:

Post a pic of the top of your light when you have time mine fits a dumbbell securely but each hood is different i use a solid dumbbell not just then flat ones you put on a bar you know the kind for old ladies or that shit where they dance and punch. But thats what them fucking yo yos do until ya get enough weight really pissed me off at first cuz i couldn't get it to not suck the string right back up on my 150w hahaha. Norma is a monster how long did you veg again? Hows the top you laid over?

Also is norma still spitting out new white hairs? She might have a little more sativa in her buds so she might take longer but now you have the hps so she should finish out in soon your on like week 10 right?

its my day off so i have some time haha! the top of the ballast seems sturdy but the eye loops n yoys seem to make it wobble a lot, i have those bean bag velcro weights that go on the ankles lol and some ol lady weights, I put the dehumidifier there as a weight, it worked out til i bumped it. She is still spitting out new hairs, its weird, I dont know..when I smoked that bowl earlier, it was str8 up sativa, i was up n ready ....its how it was when i bought a gram off a friend...the tops are full i had to bend those in, but them too are spitting new hairs, the 19th will be 2 month...yea wk 10 give or take....lol I veged her for a month because I didnt know how that played a roll til she started flowering..dude i was like reminiscing the day i started lol, ive bought so many fukin CFLS i have like 30+ 6500ks n 2700ks, like 12 bulb splitters, 3 ballasts, its been a ride!!! lol and i just finally bought new food, i ran out ! im sticking to flora series, not ready to jump ship to floranova lol in time..in timeeee

damn this fucking camera, lol, let me say why im always camera bitching, see outside of growing, i also root cell phones, and well each "rom" is different that gets ported, and each one has a diff camera included, some are crisp, some fucking suck. I happen to have a sucky ass one, so give me a couple hrs, ill post some pics, i turned off the HPS to get some bud shots of norma, its hard, but I trimmed her up, ya know all those like sugar leafs are starting to curl up like the plant is just full blown ready to harvest suckin up all the sugars gettin sticky icky ickyyyyyy

Have you checked normas trics she is a beast for only cfl and a month long veg From the sounds of it i would wait another week or two until you stop seeing new pistil growth then chop her and be done with those beans and get yourself diffrent ones maybe a 8 week indica or something along those lines now that you have starting from seed down. Get yourself a pack of MR NICE seeds or TGA something along those lines tude is going to have a giant birthday promo 4 free fem seeds and 3 reg for spending over 40 pounds last time i was on there they had dinafem specials buy a 3 pack of any strain and get 3 critical plus free buy 5 get 5 buy 10 get 10 free. Ive ran half a dozen strains from the dinafem lineup and loved them hard to beat the deal get two different packs of 3 get 6 free and the other promo beans free plus their ufo beans for free walk away with 20 beans for 40 pounds check it out buddy im still running off their june promo but fem seeds are legit for the most part a year of growing them and nota hermie.

since i purchased a MH/HPS setup, ive not started a seed with the MH light yet...i can start seeds with ease under CFLS, but hell that just defeats the purpose of buying a MH/HPS setup...it defeats the MH purpose really...how close should I put this 250watter? i might just stay CFLS for the start and HPS for the flower(as some do)...enlighten me on how close to put this light! im thinkin with the heat..atleast 1.5/ 2ft away, but then she'll stretch....less stretch more bulk! ill figure this out its not rocket science its botony science

I keep any bulb as close as i can i use my hand to judge the height just put your hand on top of the canopy if it feels about 70-80 and you can hold your hand there comfortably then your good to go. Now that your switching from cfl to hps i would do the same thing but after i dialed in the lights height i would raise the light a few more inches just because your throwing out a lot more light on the canopy. If i was you i would try to make a veg chamber out of a cabinet so i could keep the closet for flowering and then veg with cfl in the cab when i feel they are ready to flower just stuff them in. You will need to figure out how to raise the younger plants up to the light and just lower them as needed but them you could add a few more plants to your garden and decrease the amount of time between harvests. Or do it how you have it setup just use all blue cfls the 250hps and throw some autos in the mix so you have a harvest while you are vegging to get you threw flowering. Or you could even go 12/12 from seed or you could build a veg box learn how to clone and run clones in the closet 12/12 and have a mother in a cab but the cab will have to be big enough for a few mothers and their clones so you can veg the clones for a week or month and then throw them in the closet.

updated coffeecan comp pics ;D @ slim, I think im going to flush norma today, str8 up 3 gallons distilled, i dont plan on revegging her, i think ill have more excitement off my coffeecan grows than with norma, her smell is odd it dont smell like weed, tho it is, I wonder if its that fake weed lol it was just a random seed, hell it could even be reggie(that would suck), its like id have to smoke 2-3 bowls to get a high off those water cured nugs, MAYBEEEEEE i dried them toooo quick, i put them on a screen infront of a heater for maybe 5 hrs ish but they shriveled and I dunno, i think its the strain that just sets me off and not knowing what it is and blah blah blah , im going to air dry the remaining buds once the flush is done.. i have a paper babg with shreds cut up, so once i cut the nugs/buds off, i hang them, then wait, then i trim them, then drop them in a jar burp it every 12 hrs check moisture drop in paperbag check moisture drop back in jars,,,?

Hang until dry on the outside stems snap but still wet on the inside like 15-25% then into jars for 12 closed 12 open then check if the nugs are like freshly harvested nugs then into the bags for 12 hours then back into jars. You shouldn't have to go into the bags to much maybe twice and hang dry should be around a week and the rest of the cure in the jar should take around a month.
