Alberta Canada Outdoor Grow Help Please

Hi.

A friend of mine recently got his medical/grow license and has being doing a lot of research on which type of strains to grow here in the Edmonton area. He just wants to try 2-3 plants and thinks that white widow or white queen would be the way to go, but he is not entirely sure on this. What plants would you guys recommend that he tries (or are his choices pretty good), he is wanting what I'm sure everyone else wants: good quality bud, a good yield, and to be able to grow in this area, in which it has to able to be harvested quite early. Hopefully someone with experience in this area can chime in on what strains are good for the area. Also, his plants will be outdoor in his garden, so they won't be able to be moved around.

most of the strains he has suits your needs. i live @ 54 N in BC , i grow timewarp x NL and timewarp x Skunk. they allways finish on time.

i bet your just saying that to try and be Legal, or OK or some shit.....

dont worry. i have enough to put me away for a LONG time, no one here cares.....

Also, how far apart should my friend plant the plants away from each other. He was told 3ft by 3ft was the ideal, but it seems a little close to him

He was just going to get some fresh black dirt an rototiller it into the garden (which is quite sandy) and then follow the fertilizing techniques in one of the books. Though, the more he has been reading on here, it seems as if there are a lot of different ways to make the soil just perfect. Which soil mix and growing technique would your or someone else recommend (Or if someone could post a link to a good thread already explaining this, this would be great)? Thanks

So far so good..I suggest 100% organics
Mix in a good amount of Alfalfa meal & Earthworm casting. Buy Co-op mashed Alfalfa, its much cheaper
Don't forget the Admentments: Bat guanos, manure and benifitial bacteria and microbes will ensure good soil that your plant will thrive in.

Thanks for that. Also, is there a major a difference in ordering seeds from abroad (he was going to order white queen and white widow from http://whitewidowseeds.com/), or ordering them in Canada? The ones from abroad seem to fit the characteristics that my friend needs better than the ones in Canada (say http://bcseedking.com/). What would be your opinion on this? Though, wouldn't the ones he'd be ordering from Canada be climatized better than the ones from the Netherlands. Also, my friend needs to know how to start the seedlings indoors. He was going to use a 400-watt HP sodium bulb to start the seedlings off in jiffy pellets. Which would be inside on a heating mat for three weeks (before he begins to plant them he will be putting them outside for a bit). Does this all sound correct or is there anything else that he should know.
