Australian Animal Cruelty has stopped me wanting to eat meat - COMPLETELY.

I skipped through the last pages because i'm about to eat dinner, but I just wanted to say if it hasn't been said already, that plants are living things to. So eating plants would be no different than having "dead shit" on a plate. I'm all for being against animal cruelty. But if you're against cruelty to living things, why stipulate? And please don't give me some bullshit about how animals are more advanced biologically and higher evolved and have more complex nervous systems capable of feeling pain and suffering. Plants are just as alive as animals, and respond to stressors in their environment in order to sustain life. If you aren't going to eat meat, you might as well not eat broccoli or turnips either.
That's the most stupid thing I've read this week :) Kudos to you :)

It's not 'bullshit' that plants suffer less than animals, it's a fact. I don't need science to prove that either way, I simply need to slice a plant open and I can see there's nothing but capilleries for transporting nutrients and water, leaves to create sugars, flowers to reproduce. It's vegetation.

Quite above all that though, we're talking about the viscous treatment of animals that have enough intelligence to have *personalities*. Plants, don't have a personality, and if we refrained from eating both animals AND plants, what would anyone eat? Perlite? Dirt? ..

For the record though, I HATE pulling plants out completely, and I almost always simply cut what I need at the time for cooking etc from my garden. I treat my plants with more love than some people treat their pets.

Just trying to draw a comparison between Fauna and Flora is utter stupidity.

If we had vegisonic hearing, a simple bowl of steamed rice would be ten thousand tiny screams in unison.

If you can't stand to watch this video then you shouldn't eat industrialized pork. I grew up on a farm. I understand the circle of life and what it takes to feed a world of 7 billion people. These practices are not so we can have meat to eat, they are so we can have cheap meat to eat. The price for cheaper meat is our humanity.

Finally getting round to viewing that video, it sickened me (The desired effect, of course).

I did notice a lot of the footage was looped and repeated, since after one minute, I'd seen the same clips over and over, but it's sickening.

Pigs have as much persona as dogs do, and I really hope those cruel cunts have an extra hot spot in hell reserved for them.

You do know that human beings are starving to death everyday don't you? Oh that's right, you don't give a shit about people. These animals have PERSONalities? What about insects? Do they have personalities? Cows moreso than rabbits? Are pigs more bona fide than goats? Are chickens more apprehensive than fish? Perhaps chimpanzees more sentient than labradors? Is there some sort of index as to the level of differing awareness within each furry little critter? You seem so angry. It's okay buddy. Make the difference! Be the change! Spearhead campaigns! Or just rant on a cannabis growing forum because you saw youtube videos that suddenly made you aware of a contentious issue that has been going on for decades, and is not going to be resolved anytime soon because of the ignorance of our ever expanding population. But it's good to feel something! At least you're alive and show a capacity for empathy in living beings, however misdirected. I'd be more concerned with the dessimation of the rainforests, depletion of fossil fuels, political corruption, landfills, and widespread ignorance and media poisioning permeating our phony cultures myself, but hey I have to work a meager job in a bleak society just to put plants and animals in my body so I can live to do it again tomorrow.

"Pigs have as much persona as dogs do, and I really hope those cruel cunts have an extra hot spot in hell reserved for them." Oh you're right pal, you don't come off as angry at all. Sorry for being presumptuous.

From your succicnt little rhetorical question I suppose you inferred my response to be motivated out of anger, when in fact I had an expressionless face the whole time whilst typing it. I try not to submit to anger. I simply like to state my perspective at times whether people care or not. I'll adapt a technique of yours and offer a smiley face as evidence . I find it amusing that you had nothing else to respond with other than that. It's Ironic that your suggestion that I am the real angry one seemed to actually elevate my happiness. I am most grateful, friend.

You're trolling right? :)

Ditto. as far as smileys go though, they've been a bad habit for a decade. I tend to use them as punctuation regardless my current mood on something.

I am most grateful, friend.
Thanks aren't required, you're quite welcome, think nothing of it :)

I guess that makes me a true Ecologist then! :)

I haven't spawned any children, I recycle - well useful things at least, and I'm so animal friendly, the other day I had a bag of dry Motherwort leaves in a zip-lock. I am just standing there choppin' up when I here "click.. scratch scratch scratch" Apparently, a bug had been locked in the bag with the dried plant matter. So I open the top the bag, and sit in on the window-sill so the bug can make it's way back out :)

The only animal I'm happy to kill is the common house-fly. I absolutely LOATHE them. Any insect that starts its live in a garbage bin, writhing around in dirty nappies and discarded menstrual pads has no place in my heart whatsoever.

What reinforces my hate for flies, are those summer flies that won't farking LEAVE YOU A-LONE! .. swat-swat-swat! little arse!! "COME ON THEN! Fucking land on me ONE MORE TIME you filthy disgusting creature! COME ON AN' BRING IT!!!!"

I have got so annoyed trying to slap a fly on occasion I've slapped myself instead, and once that happens, I SNAP and woe to any fly dumb enough to fly within my general area.

Hate em. Just hate em.
And nor have I, by choice. Got fixed a long, long time ago. A person has to walk the talk.

they kill what thier limit is, so do i....it keeps mother nature stable .... all meat that cant be consumed is ALWAYS donated to people who cant afford to eat......jus sayin
Sorry, everything we do upsets the balance of nature. Your arguement is a human arguement and, as such, is very biased. Maybe you should start thinking from a naturalist view which examines the impact that we, as humans, have on the rest of the world.

I'm guessing that if you saw any other species doing what we, as humans, are doing to the earth, you would be in favour of wiping them out to extinction.

I too have managed to avoid kids by choice, though I'm still a walking sperm bank - no fixing here.

To be honest though, I'd never PLANNED to have kids when I was younger: I never really wanted to. They cost alot, they shit their pants, they're filthy, the smell bad, and they talk far far too much.

The long-term relationships I've had, somewhat fortunately, were with women who'd already had their 2 kids and had themselves fixed before I met them, so I never had to worry bout pregnancy.

I have been a parent to other peoples kids, and I was shocked to discover I actually found it kinda nice: Being part of a family was a nice change for a lone-wolf-ish, anti-social human-hater like myself, but after we broke up, she (the ex) fucked off with her new boyfriend and I had no say in anything, since they weren't my kids 'biologically'. As sad as it was at the time, I felt slightly relieved once I'd realized I no longer had to carry any responsibility for anyone else, so all worked out just fine.

And now, I'm happy being single with no dependants. I don't even have my own dog any more: I just adopt whichever dog I'm living with at the time, and spoil her till she ignores her owner :)

Far as sperm donorship goes: If the carpet could pay me for donations, I'd be a fucking millionaire by now.
