In your fucking dreams. When times are hard the whiners/progressives always come out in force and bitch about capitalism, trickle down economics, inequality of wealth, etc...
When times are good, they still feel that way, but you hardly hear it. If things are so awful in our system, how come the "Occupy" dumbshits weren't out in force prior to 2009? Because mom and dad had money to pay for tuition, jobs were aplenty and paid well enough to pay off student loans. As soon as rough times arrive, as they always will, we need to overturn the apple cart.
Kind of like when a black Democrat got elected president. All the ignorant racists, conspiracy theorists and crackpots in general took to the streets. Ya know, those Tea Party types. For 8 years not a fucking peep about deficits and debt while we engaged in 2 decade long wars. Not a peep about the tax cuts that weren't paid for and left for the next administration to deal with

The difference being that progressives have been bitching about income inequity for quite some time. The Teabaggers didn't exist until we had a black Democrat as POTUS

Yes, and since YOU GET IT ALL BACK... You dont pay federal income tax...

Sorry I am not up on being an employee, havent done it in a long time. If you declared your deductions properly you wouldnt be letting the government kite off of you. That is your choice, however you are being disingenuous saying that you pay federal taxes while getting a refund for the same taxes you say you are paying.
sorry, but there are numbers with dollars signs on them in box 2 of my W2, which reads "federal income tax withheld". i paid federal income taxes this year.

after i paid federal income taxes, i did get them all back. doesn't change the fact that i paid federal income taxes.

and because i know how much you LOVE the EIC, i should point out that i am getting over $300 coming my way thanks to the EIC.

:fire:

deal with it.

Buck you make me laugh every day thanks man. I had a shitty day, drive for 1.5 hours round trip to get a bunch of new gear at the grow shop for a huge upgrade to my grow. Got home and realized the guy gave me a 400 watt MH bulb instead of a 1000. Didnt notice until I had all 3 of the ballasts mounted, hoods mounted, fans installed and new ducting

spent most of the day and then had to go all the way back, at least he hooked me up w/ upgrades on 2 of the bulbs I got

Best part? All paid for w/ my tax return :o

bummer on the bulb, but at least they tried to take care of you there.

i did the same thing with my tax returns the last two years, boy does it pay off.

gotta love a warm winter garden when it's so cold and gray out, right?

Damn right, I'm in Maine. Winter here isn't for the faint of heart.

In the process of a huge change. Working w/ my accountant, selling my tattoo shop. Since I got sick tattooing is difficult, seems weird but I enjoyed myself being away from the shop after getting sick. Talked to the wife and I've got myself a few patients so my grow is legal. Gonna do caregiving full time. I get to spend way more time w/ my kids and the income hit has been pretty much negligible

So this is my last summer tattooing while I get the sale finalized and help out the buyer for a few months

And the bottom 50% of America pays NO federal income tax.?
Yea thats not really true, pretty sure Rush Limbaugh or someone made that up. I am probably bottom 50% and paid plenty of taxes, I paid income taxes but also If you want to be direct you can say I paid property/sales taxes but I paid a lot more then that. This is a deceptive thing to say We all pay taxes everyday.

they limit the scope to "federal income taxes" to marginalize the fact that property/sales/gas taxes hit our wallets much harder than they hit the wallets of the uber-wealthy.

then they bitch and moan about "class warfare" when we point out their subtle method of playing class warfare.

The numbers of the 50% not paying federal income tax come from the IRS... It is not made up.

the IRS is on crack then.

i am certainly in the bottom 50%, yet my W2 tells me that federal income tax was withheld.
And then given back to you at the end of the year.

I know you like to play word games rather than admit the point. I am just going to ignore it as trying to get you to admit the truth is useless.

I paid almost 2 grand in net Federal taxes this year, and am surely in the bottom 50%... If I were to recieve government aid (I didn't recieve any) I would likely see my net contribution be at or near zero at the Federal level. As a percentage of my income my Federal taxes amounted to ~9% of my total income.

the truth is that whether or not i got it back, i did pay federal income taxes out of my checks every two weeks.

and does making $28k a year put you in the top 50%? because back when i was making that amount of money, i certainly did not get back all of the money i paid in federal income taxes. i would pay at least $4k in and get back $1k or so, which puts some froth into your argument.

The top 1% drops down into people making 300K per year.

The bottom 50% is going to be pretty low in terms of income.

Are you taking out social security and medicare? Because those dont count.

no, SS and medicare bump that number up, but i am not counting them.

making $28k in 2009 put me at the 15% level for federal income taxes, which means about $4200. i got back around $1200 to $1400 or so if i recall correctly.

my effective tax rate after considering state, SS, and medicare was closer to 22%. you should remember that from the thread where you defended that people making $20 million a year and paying 13% was fair and reasonable practice.

so, making $28k a year, i paid about $3k in federal income taxes AFTER the refund.

so tell me, does $28k make me richer than half of americans? if so, that's pretty sad.

lol, "stats".

you said your numbers came from the IRS, not about.com

and that does not tell us where the 50% cutoff is, as was requested.

your stats did show that the bottom 50% pay about 4% of the taxes though, which totally makes sense seeing as how they make about 0.5% of the money in this nation.

totally fair!
Even from that graph it shows the bottom 50% earning 13% or about 26 times your estimate of the money in this nation.

So they earn 13% and pay 4% of the taxes... And the top 50% earns 87% and pays 96%..... Yes, the tax system is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO unfair to the poor.

I added another link as that data is older.

For some odd reason you get happy when the government sticks it to any group you are not in. You consider your relative happiness by giving the government a large tax free loan every year and magically getting it back... Obama's administration success is based on how much more YOU got back... You are a huge narcissist and cant see the big picture through your envy.

Dont worry, you have plenty of government sheeple in your group. Just demand the government keep taking more and giving us less while overspending by massive amounts and everything is going to be peachy keen... Obama 2012...

so i just looked it up, $32k puts you in the top 50%.

that means while i earned $28k a year, i was in the bottom 50% and paid $3k in federal income taxes.

and i know that people making less than me did not get all of their taxes refunded, thus disproving your false talking point about the bottom 50% not paying any taxes.
