I'm a full time pharmer in the great N.W. with successful experience with dirt, coco, hydro and D.W.C. A year ago I lost a grow due to a 10 day trip with my "buddy caring " for my ladies. What a mess when I returned home. I started exploring low tech automated options and ran across the Magic 420 GS Pots. A wee bit skeptical at first I shelled out the 120.00 bucks for 6, 5 gal pots and the "automated system."
They suggest a specific soil mixture with a 2 in layer of perlite at the very bottom and a mixture of Sunshine mix # 4 and Ocean Forest. They also suggest a feeding schedule using a single very economical nute for both veg and bloom. Ok at this point I have to admit in addition to their schedule I sparringly supplementt cal-mag, mollases and Liquid Karma. I also use R.O water throughout the cycles.
Smart pots be damned the results would make any pharmer proud and the whole "system" is so simple any newbie can pull a very good crop first run IF they follow the grow instructions EXACTALLY. To complete the tour de force use Monterey Garden Insect Spray every 5-7 days andSerenede for PM.
I've since upscaled the pots to the 7 gallon size and increased my yields to 8-15 ounces per pot depending on the strain.
For the sake of accuracy I hand water as needed and use the automation only when I'm away. The ability to take off with confidance for a week or longer has changed our lives.....PRICELESS!
I know NOBODY that uses these. It's pots that water the roots from the bottom. It's a cheaper hybrid hydro system. Too new to really say if they work well and in my opinion too risky to be one of the first to give them a try. That testimonial section looks fake. Look at that one picture of some dude standing next to his huge flowering plant with crap t8 or t12 florescents hanging over it in some unfinished basement. I have just heard nothing about these and I've been doing my homework. I remember coming across that white haired guy in a youtube video, I watched about 30 seconds of it and moved on as it reminded me of some late night infomercial. For all I know they are AWESOME, but they're probably just a gimmick much like air-pruned and fabric pots.
