watering question

transplanted my small rockwool cubes to bigger 4 inch 3 days ago.(wilma 4 pot) i soaked the cubes in canna start and rhizo but didnt squeeze any water out - i read that they were to designed to absorb the correct amount and squeezing could damage its make-up. I haven't watered since. they all look well and green

2 questions - should i water a small amount or wait until they appear to need water?

when should i a start watering using the drippers?

Rockwool gets saturated easy and that restricts the ability of the plant to get lots of oxygen, I have round that the best way is to put the pump on a timer and run the drippers for say 30 min every 4 hours when lights are on and none when lights are out.

i use rockwool cubes to grow and start off with small cubes and then move on to bigger cubes ones ive got roots then i put them in my nft trays one ive got roots on the bigger cubes. i start with the small ones with dipping them in water and nute mix,no sqeesing and then dip them again every other day if the cube feels dry...its down to the lights as well as i grow with hps dual spectrum 400w on cuttings and seedlings...the bigger cubes take 3/4 days befor thay need more water nute mix...ones thay are in my nft trays the pump is on all the time the lights are on

You're looking for a rule of thumb, there isn't one to be made from the aspects of the situation you describe yourself in. Water when the plant tells you it needs it.

thanks for taking the time to reply - much appreciated
where is the best place to locate the dripper - directly next to root?
