Its been 4 days, and not looking too good
Remember I didnt sterilize anything I did it quick like in 1 minute.
I also didnt put a plastic bag over the cutting to hold the moisture in.
I will try more experiments in the future though, I hadnt done any research at all when I got the idea to do this, I know a bit more know and should have a better chance of success the next time
I have 10 more plants I will use for another test in 1 week, they are unwanted clones so unless I can find someone who wants to buy some Kali Mist clones they are being sacraficed in the name of science

Awww that's a sad sight, but not totally lost it's still green not showing really bad signs of death. How many days has it been now? What I would try and do is cut off the leaves up to those 2 small ones right before the new growth, and put a zip lock like the guy did. See if it helps
looks like the little guys at the top are starting to go to the light no real rot around the base of the stem. I dunno man I think your doing awesome, I would keep it around till it's a confirmed death.

I think cutting the other leaves off the rest of the plant may have something to do with it; maybe it can't gather enough energy now to heal the graft, it's relying on the sole 'disconnected' leaves to gather energy.
All in all great experiment though! Excellent stuff!

Maybe one can take all the little popcorn buds and under growths that normally don't get any light to a higher area that's saturated with it and if all goes well, end up getting small (yet bigger) buds out of them.

haha now your thinking! thats a good idea, especially if you had a wide open space that you knew was just wasting potential for bud
I know I didnt give it my full effort on this first attempt... as was just mentioned I should have removed more leaves. probably should have removed more stem too. I think I remember wanting to keep the long stem so I could have as wide as a base with as much contact as possible. I'm not going to bother putting a bag on it, but will leave it in the room untill it is a dried up twig, then I will smoke it and I'll write a smoke report for you dedicated fans. lol Just kidding
I have already pinched off the lower set of leaves since posting this picture. Do you really think I should remove the next set up as well? there wont be much left if I do that! will just have to wait and see what happenends. It was going strong for 3 days btw, it was only in the last 24 hours that it slumped over like that, so there is potential I think.
Also to my amazment after 4 days I decided to remove the tape and when I did the stem was actually oozing out juice still! so thats good to see. It tells me I have at least 4 days of juice pumping action coming from the roots even without there being a plant on top. The plant that was on those roots might be long dead, but the roots are still alive.
That root system is 50 days old. The next trial will be done from the root system of clones I made. They will likely be about 30 days old when I do the second attempt.
Stay tuned, I will be taking the next go at this sometime in the next week

keeping a plastic bag or cola bottle over it will help...also, spray it with water a few times a day for the first week....especially if its wilting...good idea using the rootball of a harvested plant! I have a male flowering now that I'll use as a stump to graft stuff onto...

yeah, i'll try and remember to do that...
I actually already tried grafting a couple of times. When i did it on purpose (cut branch, make slit on host plant, graft) it did not work, but when I bandaged up broken branches (connected only by the epidermis) they grew together just fine, and yielded big fat buds, i might add... These were not serious attempts at grafting, but now that I have a plant count limit, I will give it another try. Hopefully I will manage to turn that male Tahoe OG into a motherplant with all my favorite strains...

So I'm pretty sure one of my girls is actually a boy, they just went into 12/12 so Im thinking of cloning him many times because I suck at it, the more attemps the better lol and it's practice. Then I will be trying what pickle inspired me to try and graft a female to male rootball, if it goes good i'm grafting a bunch of diff strains to her and calling her skittles cause ill be tasting the rainbow when she goes to 12/12.

So It was confirmed one of my girls is a boy, so off with it's head. Kept 2 clones to go straight to 12/12 in another room to have miniature pollen producing bonsai males and get a few seeds along the way, as for the rootstock I took a cutting from a female and attached it to the rootstock. I'd like to thank pickle for the inspiration if I wouldn't of stumble across this thread id be disposing of roots right now lol. I'll let you all know how it goes and i'll take pics if it catches, hows yours making out Pickle?
