first of all, hello to all at RIU.

ds120 tent 1.2mx1.2mx1.8m
600w hps
5inch rvk 125 L1-420 m3h outlet fan
rhino filter aka phat filter
tt100 187 m3h inlet fan

heat is being exhausted through the ceiling into the attic. (one 45 degree bend in ducting)
inlet fan is sucking through an open window. (two 45 degree bends in ducting)

temps are at 85.5f-86.5f at plant level with the light suspended 36 inches above.
if i fix my hygrometre to the wall of the tent it reads 78-79-80-81 max, with the light 30 inches above plant level.

question is what should the temps be above plant level,on the inside wall or at top of canopy?

ive searched through old posts here at RIU for answers but cant find exactly what im looking for...

any advice or suggestions will really be appreciated.

hi, im using that tent, also using 600w, but with extra lighting.. i aim for 72-75 c..get a breeze blowing over the canopy. i even have a small fan on the floor pointing upwards, to help hot air rise and get sucked out, do the hand thing under the light, but imo those temps your having arent too bad, dep on the sensitivity of the particular strain. imnho.

85 is the highest you want to go, 75-80 is what you want though, also 36 inches is far to high to keep your 600 light away from plants, at that distance your light is only giving your plants the same as a 250 watter! no more than 18 with out coolshade, and around 8-10 with coolshade, if you haven't got a coolshade then i would def get one, it would bring them temps down alot, have you got a oscillating fan blowing across the tops of the plants?

p.s you should take the temps from plant height in the room if you place a fan so its blowing inbetween the tops of the plants and up towards the light you should be able to get that light closer with out coolshade. (still look into one though) if your from the uk i can give you a link to the ones i use, there a great price and do the job perfectly, plus there 2 foot by 2 foot.

85 at plant level? plants are only 7 days old thats why the light is so far away atm

yes a cool shade was my next plan, thats why im asking.

no i dont have an ocsiliating fan blowing across them either.

i mean 85 is the highest i would ever let my room get, but would do everything i could to keep it well below that, if there only 7 days old then 30 inches is ok, just move it closer day by day until its at the 18 inches, or until its comfortable on the back of your hand.

i place my hydrometer on the wall at top of plant level and the other bit at floor level so i know what the temps are for the full plant, just remember the light gives off radiant heat so if your taken temps to close to the light/bulb it will always read above 80.

place your 6 inch fan so its blowing across the tops of the plants, slightly angled up so it blows the heat away from your girls.

got a cool shade now, brought my temps rite down :-o..

thanks guys
What temps are you getting now? I like to see ambient temps of my room around 67, with canopy temps around 75. My high temp shutoff takes over when temps get above 82 in the room's ambient areas. I've got 3000w going and some large 8 and 10 inch fans handling the temps.

Your setup and tent is pretty much the same size as mine!!

except my room is 83F with my lights '11 INCHES AWAY!' - im running a 400watt MH in a cooltube. (hygro/thermo meter is at plant level)

with it attached to the wall im at 78F.

Im running a twin turbine ( two 4 inch fans) as intake into the room (Seperated from cooltube)
and a 6' can fan attached to the cooltube sucking hot air out of the room and into the roof/attic, and keeping the lights cool also.

Check out my grow video in my signature link; it will give you some ideas worth investing in i think!!

nice plants, the white widow looks awesome mate!

i have a different shade to you, i got the huge square one with glass screen, its cooled it down soo much,i can hold my hand on the glass, definately worth the extra £60. ive also noticed a big difference in growth now.

they are amazing, keep the light as close as possible with out burning or bleaching your plants, mine is around 8 inches above, the buds lower down the plant will get alot bigger because of this.

woud you please pm me the email address where yo got tent high land thanks

ive sent u the web address, but as u can see from this thread the tent kit i purchased does not keep temps anywhere near optimum.

u will need a 350cfm fan and higher cfm filter kit to match and an air cooled shade to get temps down.. unless of course uve got A/C or u live in the north pole.

i also had very little negative pressure with the inline tt 100 fan that it comes with.

apart from the heat issues it was well worth the money.
