Good strain for new grow

I have been researching strains for weeks while I plan and build my grow spot. AK-47 seems like the easiest choice for a beginner grow. I also like Island Sweet Skunk and any strain that has a fruity name to it, e.g Bubble Gum, Lemon Haze, Querkel. Short flowering time and good yield would be my top two constraints, but I also am looking for medical effect for chronic pain, depression and insomnia. I know that might sound like a dead ringer for a couch lock body stone strain, which would be nice. But it would also be nice to have pain relief, anxiety relief and not be couch locked. Also, good narcotic/psychedelic up-high would be good. Any suggestions on strains that fit this bill?

Feel free to post your experience with different strains and how they affect you, body/head wise.

Asking for pain/anxiety relief without couchlock might be contradictory. I'd stay near the Indica end. Northern Lights (I grew #5) is one I can recommend for ease of growing and a good yield of no-excuses bud. My phenos were about 2:1 Indica:Sativa.
For Sativa doms, I loved Cinderella 99 - the original Bros Grimm offering. It was unfussy, grew quickly but was OK indoor, and yielded mass quantities of a very strong trippy bud.
Can anyone tell me if C99 is still to be had from a GOOD breeder? If not, what is the nearest equivalent for ease, quality, potency and headiness? Apologies if this is a threadjack. cn

No problem mate. I am looking for a good brainstorm thread to help me decide on a strain. I was thinking I will probably have to get two different strains, depending on what I want to do. I will research the C99 and NL5. Thanks

Currently i'm growing two Nirvana strains(White Widow and raspberry Cough), and by comparison they are fussy, sickly and seem to be growing indifferent bud. I cannot believe either how lucky I was the first time i grew years ago .. or what an unlucky choice I made this time. I'm better than my current grow! Really! cn

Most of the C99 on Attitude is Out of Stock.

From the website: This C99 hybrid also resembles a landrace sativa in high, taste and smell, takes only 7 - 8 weeks to flower. But some individuals might be a bit spicier than the true C99.

One parent line has 75% C99 / 25% Maroc and one parent line is 50% C99 and 50% Neville Haze early flowering selection parent.

I love Querkle ... but its not a large yielder ... Vegges a little slow as well.. but is one of my favorites .... The hardiest strain that was easy to grow and yielded well is Hindu Kush from Sensi Seeds.. But it is far from sweet or fruity .. really earthy piney flavor and taste....

NL#5 is a great suggestion.. Good luck on whatever you may choose!

Just found another C99 from FemaleSeeds on Attitude that says it is from the original C99 with this descr.:

This new batch is a cross of two exceptional basic pheno types, the Grapefruit and the Pineapple. Both derived from the original Brothers Grimm C99
It matures in 4 weeks from seed, which is much faster than the original C99. (6 - 8 weeks)

both the strains cannabineer recommend are killer don't know if C99 is on the menu but you could get lucky and find a pack. I think I might take a chance with the femaleseeds.nl breeder on AT, since they are so cheap, it will not be too bad if it is not as potent as Soma or Serious AK and what not.

sweet island skunk is the shit!!! i didnt personally grow it but ive had it.... and maaaannnnn.... ill tell you something else with a skunk i am familiar with.... the GH lemon skunk, it is dannnnkkkkk!!!!! couple of weeks young and was already smellin it up..smelled super skunky and like someone jus fired one up, used caution man... the carb's are a must!,

by the way which bubble gum where u lookin at??? ive tried nirvanas that one smelled kinda dank too..... the others are good too... but ive never had querkle.... i can tell you too lot of kush's have the CL n Relexations .....

I really was into the ISS when I first read about it, but my ADD keeps me looking at new strains. I think i've finally settled on some C99 cross from femaleseeds.nl they say it is b/t Grapefruit and Pina types from the original Bro Grimm Cindy99. I had been looking at Serious (AK47 or Bubble Gum) or Sensi Super Skunk for beginners, but their prices are too high for me right now.
