An anecdote is not the same as data. All the data says that nearly every ghetto school in America is way behind grade level and not preparing children for much of anything. There are exceptions to that but they amount to a rounding error.

No real education + no economic opportunity + high crime is not a situation that's going to produce a generation of successful children. All that's going to produce is a situation while will perpetually deteriorate.

Well then the problem must be environmental then. You can say it's cultural, but that culture has developed from the environment.

It all comes back to lack of economic opportunity in the end.

The government builds community housing which they place welfare recipients. That housing almost universally and quite quickly turns into a ghetto. Much of this is due to neglect of the tenants. Even though rent is free or near free they have no interest in keeping up the infrastructure and it goes to shit. Cabrini Green which was touted as a wonderful housing project in Chicago is a sterling example of this type of place. I dont think the buildings lasted 20 years before they were in such bad condition that they needed to be torn down.

Poor white people vote mostly Democratic for the same reasons poor minorities do. And they live side by side in these government created cesspools of poverty.

Why do you somehow think that the Democratic politicians care more? While they get their fat pensions and bonuses and separate but "equal" (laughs) medical care, assistants, staff, multi-million dollar slush funds (oh, I mean office stipends). Maybe they are better liars..

if it were the environment then NOBODY would ever come out of the ghetto successful.


it is up to the individual. and whether or not he CHOOSES to ride excuses all day, or simply gets up and makes something of himself.

i can say it again if you still don't get it.

have i not let on enough in this thread that i believe the root cause is socioeconomic status rather than race? if not, let me say it again: it is based on socioeconomic factors, not race.
