Very true and good idea. Do you know if the small/cheap ones have built in thermostat?
The problem is that the light area is around 10deg+ warmer than the grow area, interesting to see how well the lower area is staying separated to spite the lack of a partition. The problem with the heater is that i don't really have much floor space to spare, as you can imagine
I will look into it for certain, thanks for the suggestion.
As a side note, for the next grow i have two routes i havent decided which it will be.
One is to run this cab again, just like it is, and add a few UVB bulbs, this will add the uvb i like, and a little heat, though the time most people keep uvb bulbs on would likely not add any staying heat.
The second idea that i might dedicate the cabinet to is the use of Far red LEDs (730+) to facilitate short night periods. I plan to keep it a simple experiment, using two digital timers rather than a micro-controller for simplicity's sake. The daytime light will be the spectra 120 while the far red will be handled by about 15w of DIY 730nm led, or i might possibly go to the 800s to reduce the possibility of the led dipping below IR and into visible which would negate the concept. I intend on running a 10 on 2 off, so 2 cycles each day. The IR leds will be on for an undetermined amount of time early in the dark hours which will cause the photo-chrome to convert early on and the remaining dark period will be primarily for the plant to detect the abundance of pfr and signal that it has had a full night of conversion, and as such is ready for the following day when the light flips again in an hour and a half or so (maybe 30 min max of IR light).
I dunno, lots of things to think about. Test uvb or test 730+ nm /short nights.
I suppose i could throw the uvb lights on the main grow, which really i should be doing anyway.
