I would just like to chime in and say that
hydrodawg
your original post is ok. I prefered the more scientific approach to hydro on my first run. It made it easier being methodical.

BUT

i have to agree with TTT that it can all be done by reading your plants, as long as you aren't using nutes that seriously effect your pH then the chances are you're never gonna need to mess with it as most hydro nutes have buffers which help it to stay in check etc.

This whole thread has got a little out of hand for 1 main reason it's your first grow hydrodawg. Well done. But don't get too big for your boots. You now need to recreate your success time after time.

Give me 8 weeks and I'll have another harvest in the jars. Regardless of the number of grows under my belt the information remains static. If I had stated this was my 47th grow does that now make my inaccurate information accurate?

Instead of stating you MUST use a water chiller, would SHOULD use a water chiller have been better?

We are arguing symantecs when we all know that using a water chiller is preferred by MANY growers to eliminate the problems I mentioned. This post wasn't about me or the number of grows under my belt. It was a post to help newbies get started. It is still solid advice and will get a newbie in the game and growing some good bud.

These RIU fuc*'s would rather argue subtle differences of opinion than contribute something positive to the forums.

We are arguing the inaccuracy of your statements. Preferred has nothing to do with MUST. And "should" is not accurate either. You use a chiller if your grow requires one, nothing more, nothing less. You seem hellbent on this idea that you have to have one. No, YOU have to have one, stop trying to speak for other peoples grows.

You made a statement that was 100% inaccurate, act your age and deal with it. But no, you'd rather get pissy and abusive and try and defend your incorrect statement. If semantics is the difference between an accurate or inaccurate statement, damned right i'll correct it.

'It' can ALL be done by reading your plants. BUT can a newbie read his/her plants? NO. THEY CANNOT!!! They need Ph meters & TDS meters to ensure they are correct. After several grows can they 'read' they plants? YES THEY CAN. But not if they don't have a foundation of experience that was confirmed by meters, etc.

Ask yourself this question:

If I was a newbie and had ZERO grow knowledge would this guide be helpful to me and could I complete a successful grow using these guidelines? The answer is YES!

Would an experienced grower deviate from this guide? YES

You are forgetting to look at this through newbie eyes. You guys are taking years of experience that a newbie doesn't possess and judging this post.

TTT - I could really give a fuc* about your opinion, this board or whether my post is inaccurate. I've sat here smoking bowls with 3 of my buddies and WE have thoroughly enjoyed fuc*ing with you! That has been the sole purpose of the past couple of hours.

You are entertaining to say the least!!!

Just harvested my first hydro grow and pulled 7.1 zips from 1 plant in a waterfarm. Newbie luck or I did my homework? We shall see.

Im not going to even get into this PISSING contest.

Hydrodawg if you want your thread gone then stop posting in it.

It will probably be on page 2 of newbie central if you stop retaliating.

Your post is based on YOUR circumstances and unfortunately no 2 gardens are the same.

Which i think is the point TTT is trying to make.

TTT is a solid grower with a wealth of knowledge who reads his plants to judge what they need.

Please don't unload on me, but I think the point that they are making is there are MANY ways to run hydro. For instance, I know if you paint your buckets with 95% reflective rubber or wrap them in mylar, the water temp will drop. Science doesn't lie. So you can grow with a chiller, or white coated buckets. Both work. One could use both, or neither, like myself. My Res is outside my grow room for example. Just saying, not trying to 1+ any one. Peace, good luck, and it looks good.

It's best not to come on to strong at 1st here, alot of these people have been here along time and know each other well.Especially not wise to get into a pissing contest right off the bat that's not productive for anyone. You got suckerd in.Your information is solid and can be found all over riu. Many people are in situations where we can't have perfect conditions(finances, rent house & can't cut holes fer vents...ect ect.)so we have found ways to work around these things.I've seen grows on here done under way less than perfect conditions with killer out comes.
Better to have threaded your grow and documented your procedures and not stated what must be done, you'll be nit picked every time.Haters are powerless against humility.
By the way your grow and yield were killer.YOU have your grow dialed in for YOUR situation.
Don't run off it's fun here and everyone can learn from each other.MELLOW MY FRIEND.

TTT give the man a break bro,you made your point.I'm sure the guy's just excited about his harvest(i would be)and wishes he would have worded the op differently. He'll catch on.He is one of us.
Peace man
The guy called me a fucking idiot due to utter ignorance. Nah, i don't think i'll give him a break :) He seems to have no wish to have re-worded it, he is trying to defend his post left right and center. I'll continue to point out his incorrect advice and make him look like the fool he is :)

An EC meter is accepted among most growers as the "standard", in reality there is zero requirement to own one, it's just one of a hundred examples of people perpetuating myths. It's weed, it's not difficult to grow, you do not need trinkets and toys.

Your harvest pics are of no relevance to the issue, rather if i post my harvest shots, then that is relevant, in that i get lovely harvests without having to do any of what you describe as a requirement. What you ahve done is create a hugely overcomplicated guide to growing with hydro. Your pics would only show that your list of items works, not that you can happily do without most of it.

And just because you've never found good bagseed, doesn't mean other folk don't. A lot of the famous strains people want to buy, they were the result of a random seed in a bag that turned out to be a corker.

You are correct, in that you may not go wrong following your guidelines, but one could also happily state that you can't go wrong by ignoring most of it.
do you have any pics to show ur a matergrower?

If having issues is having an understanding of the growing of cannabis, i guess i am guilty :D

He made factually inaccurate statements, there's little more to it

You seem very sure though, so by all means point out my mistake in thinking i don't need a TDS meter or a water chiller to grow with hydro :D lol
