I notice your plants are having a lot of space between nodes. I think this may be due to the light, they really need the light to be closer, but the HPS is probably too intense/hot for them. "Red" spectrum promotes stem growth, and "blue" spectrum promotes vegetative growth at this stage. I suggest adding some 26 or 42 w cool white/6500K spectrum CFL bulbs, since you can put them 2-3 inches from the plants without burning them. Your plants will thank you. Tighter nodes and a shorter stem will mean a lot more bud for the same overall height, and a lot less stretch when flowering starts. Imagine those 1-2 inch spaces doubling or tripling during flower, versus 1/4-1/2 inch spaces.

Edit: Also, as far as nutes go, you can probably do something like, 1/4 strength for the first 2 weeks, which is the seedling stage, then got to 1/2 for the 3rd week, and up to normal strength in the 4th week, with nutes every other watering. By the 4th week, most plants are in full swing veg mode and have a growing appetite. I say this mainly because it looks like your lower leaves are a little yellower, and the newer leaves are greener, which in my experience means they need a little nute boost, most likely in the nitrogen dept. :-D

do u think a 150w mh bulb will work ? as i can get 1 of them this weekend my ballast says it can support mh aswell so if thats better il get 1, and im going to go for 1/2 strength nutes next time

yes it will ....long as your ballast states that it can.

yea my ballast says 150w mh/hps so im guessing it can run it, will mh be my best option rather than hps and a few cfl's?
hps or 2700k / cfl bulbs tend to stretch the growth, were as mh or 6500k / cfl bulbs keep em tighter.

they will stretch during flowering so in veg we want to keep em short and bushy as you can. :)

i think my best bet will be the mh then only £26 so not to expensive

you can use cfl's if they are 5000k/6500k color temp are a blue light for veg

and the 2700k color temp are more orange light for flower

Even better than my advise, that's is very good news that you have a dual ballast. That makes everything a lot easier. I only suggested CFL because I was trying to make it easier/cheaper for you, because I assumed yours was just a HPS ballast. MH will definitely make a huge difference. In a week or two you will see a huge difference in both node distance and branch growth.

Anytime, I've gotten a lot of help through RIU, so I'm just trying to pay it forward. Not to mention it's really nice to be able to help someone through their first grow or two, because that's where we all have learned the most. A little good info goes a long way, but a little bad info does too, and the vast amounts of both kinds on here can be a little overwhelming, I know all too well. Either way, thank you, it's a honor to have a part in your grow, and I'm excited to see how it goes! :bigjoint:

Ahh, 4 weeks old seems so long ago for me, the months have really flown by. I'm almost as excited to start my next grow as I am to harvest the rest of the current one.
