First Grow!

luckily I have a setup that you can add trellises to. the long stick like plastic things that screw into the corners of the sights and I just got done tying up some of the droopy branches that were getting to heavy to support themselves and they were starting to grow over my smaller AK47 plant.


So far you look like you are doing a great job, you ladies (hopefully ladies) are a vibrant green. Just cause the leaves are fat doesn't mean its a pure indica, you will be able to tell which is more dominant i.e. indica or sativa once they have grown a good amount. there a very few pure indicas and sativas now days most are hybrids so you get the best of both worlds.

so what do you think of my ladies, they seem to be thriving. I wish you the luck i have been having on my first run ever. next is going to be tangerine dream and maybe one ladyburn 1974.

oh yeah I have read a lot about AK48 being one of the easiest strains to grow and is recommended for beginners like ourselves. I have five AK48 beans so I'm looking forward to getting them going in the future, and it is suppose to be crazy potent.

Alright. Well does the cut need to be made at an angle or can I just cut it completely horizontal? When I do to cut, do I just leave it exposed and let it do it's own thing? By the way your grow looks great thus far. Ak48 is supposed to be a beginners strain, and is very potent. Also I am not expecting a pure indica..lol I know for sure it is a hybrid because it shows signs of indica and will most likely show signs on sativa during flower. Which is more dominant. I won't know until later. I will be happy with either or as long as it turns out a female or even hermie because then I would have more seeds and more to grow with them seeds. Thank you for the comments man. I appreciate it. I want to post a pic of my bigger plant with an example of where to top it, and if you could, tell me if it is correct?

the first here and yeah you just let it do its own thing. those new shoots will grow twice as fast as the normal ones. the plant will use a lot of energy to get them going and thats a good thing seeing as that will be your most flowering at the end.

I was nervous about topping my plant the first time but my gave me advice and im glad i did it. it will make it bushy as well and you can top branches that grow off the sides once it gets bigger.

So when you say the first here. That is the top line I drew, right? Also does it matter. If I top it when the light is on or off?

correct the top line and no it doesn't matter if it is day or night.

I just topped it, but I didn't top it in the place you said to. I went a little higher. Just to be safe. This is my first grow and first top. So I figured I would just do one top to start. I plan on doing it once more when it starts to grow more tops. Probably cut off more next time. Thanks for the advice. I second what I said about the picture. I will take one when the light comes back on and her leaves are all lifted back up.

Nice, how long should I probably wait to top it again? Oh and by topping my plant. Will it make my plant less tall in the end?

it will make it more bushy but it will still get as tall as its genetics will make it. It also depends on on what kind of lights and how many lumens they put out. MH bulbs will grow a shorter plant because of the blue spectrum it puts out and an HPS will make a plant stretch a bit because of the oranges red spectrum it puts out. Most people use MH to veg and HPS to flower but you can go from beginning to end with either just like you can do a full grow with cfl's and other lights like LED's. I know it seems like im really experienced but im not. I read a lot about the subject and have one friend with ten years of soil and hydro growing and another friend with 4 years of soil growing and they give me advice all the time.

I would wait a week before you do it again and I would do it in a different spot like the sides. any were there is a split in the branch and some growth in the beginning of the split you can top it. I topped my big one five times and my smaller one 3 times. but be ware they get so bushy they take up a lot of room and you need a good set up for the stock to get thick so the plant can hold itself up.

by the way i take any advice as well. u should check out hygrozyme for keeping your roots healthy and oxy blast for keeping your water bacteria free and when it is gone it turns into oxygen and water thus making your water more saturated with oxygen. oxy blast is just hydrogen peroxide, 10%, H2o2.

Ive been meaning to ask you. what nutes do you use? I use the lucas method and it is easy and works great. its just general hydroponics flora bloom and flora micro. you don't use the flora grow because the micro has everything in it that the grow has, so it saves you money.

Right now I am using fox farm grow big for vegging. I only use about half strength. I am gradually upping the amount every time I feed. I plan on switching to tiger bloom most likely when I go into flowering.
