My plan for my first grow (Opinions needed please!!)

Ok so here are the items I want to use for my first grow:

Soil: FFOF (Fox farms ocean forest)
Nutes: Fox farms "Grow big" (for veg) and Fox farms "Tiger bloom" (for flower) and i was thinking about getting some molasses too. (Quick question, would these be enough?)
Lights: Well for lights, ill probally go to the store and look for 6500k's with about 1200 lumens or higher for "veg" ..... and for "flower" 2700k's (how much lumens to look for with 2700k's?).
Pots: Party cup, 6 or 12in pot, and a 3 gal
Misc: Ph Tester, Mylar, oh and those Y shaped things for light bulbs (idk what its called)

Would this be a good plan for a grow? Thanks for all help guys i appreciate it!!

Oh yea it sounds like your definitely on your way. I would just suggest checking out some of the grow journals here on rollitup, there is all kinds and a lot you could probably relate to with lots of detailed pictures. One thing you might want to know is about venting and fans, circulating air is the key. hope that helps

Just remember to get some inert perlite and vermiculite for the soil FFOF IMHO is too hot for seedlings and needs something to buffer the nutes. Also read, study, plan, act. There is a wealth of great info on RIU and vids on youtube. This will get you started. Best of luck!

for flower u cant beat an hps. even if its a small 250 watt hps. ur buds will be more dense cfls are pretty awesome for veg tho. also cfls are only good in large numbers. i have about 350 watts worth of cfls in my 2x2 veg box. mixed spectrums 65k and 27k bulbs to promote stronger and faster growth. but i would never flower with them unless my plants werent getting more than 1 and a half feet tall. cfls have to be relatively close to get good results. i wouldnt go bigger than my 2x2 with the amount i have but if u rock a nice t5 u can increase the coverage area a bit. not a big fan of flowering with cfls. if money is an issue u can grab a nice hps off of craigslist for relatively cheap with a bangin hood and ballast. i rocked a used craigslist ballast for about a year before upgrading. worth the money till u figure out what works best for u. started with a 150hps. wasnt enough then a 600 and finally a 1000 for my 6x4 flower box. look at the space u have and figure out what u will really need in lighting to properly use the space provided. cuz it sucks having a bangin plant that got to big and u didnt have enough light to cover it once the plant stretched in flower. im high and thats my 2cents.

oh and post pictures. pictures are worth a thousand words and thery can help u get out of a tuff bind sometimes if u need help. thsat way we can see whats up instead of giving our best guess. also start a journal so people can see ur progress and help if needed.

Cfls y splitters would be good for veg.. Like stated get u a hps or veg for a month or so an save up for the hps.. 100-200 can get u a 400 to 600 and that's all u will need from seed to harvest with good results.

actually guys, i was thinking about using "general hydroponics 3 part flora series" instead of FF for nutes, would this be a good decision? which do you think is better?
