True, though I generally feel that someone consents to teach because they want to teach. Sometimes certain personalities click, then, after a friendship is born and trust built, knowledge is passed along, and both grow from the experience. I've chiseled through many crusty exteriors only to find a treasure beneath.

True, someone who wants to teach generally consents to teach because they want to, but others consent to teach for other reasons (money, outside influences, status, etc.) and those are the people to watch out for. Those are the ones who will teach you everything YOU know, but not everything they know. I do agree that there are some crusty souls out there who never intended to teach anybody a GD thing, but then someone comes along with the right spark and the right aptitude and even a crusty codger will teach the right pupil...but those are rare and mostly unplanned experiences.

Fin is looking for a teacher and I hope that he finds one who wants to teach him to blow glass for the mere sake of helping him make beautiful pieces as opposed to someone who will teach him the basics of how to blow glass because they get $XX per session and get to call themselves a teacher.

I whole-heartedly agree with you. If you don't go searching though, you will never find a teacher. There are ways to immerse yourself in the hobby or trade you want to take up. Look for clubs, online forums (where have I heard that before, lol), etc and you will find peers. In the meantime, there is always experimentation and learning how to use the tools of the trade. Plus the internet!

I honestly don't have much to do, u can only job search so much in my area, but i'm hopeful i will soon be employed , i prefer using my laptop and listening to music over watching TV. My english spelling and vocabulary have improved so much since i started posting, for that i am very thankful
