GHS Kalashnikova Waterfarm

I'm still hand watering the seed from the shotglass every hour or two just to keep moist and the seed shell looks like it'll crack off soon.

As for a test on my water:
PPM - 420 (no neuts yet)
PH - 6.8
Water temp - 20c
Tent temp - 20c
Humd - 60%

As soon as the shell pops off i'm going to make a fresh batch of 9ltr (no neuts) for the WF.

Put in a fresh 8.5ltr (from the res box, no neuts) in the waterfarm.
PPM - 197
PH - 5.3
Hope shell will pop off by the morning.
Peace!

Here's is a update of the lil bugger. It's been 8days since germination but since it's properly sprouted now i'm going to call 18/11/11 day 1.
She is 1inch tall right now and I have the CFL 5inches away from her. It's crazy but she has 3 cotyledon leaves. Not sure why but maybe she will grow stronger? I'm not going to worry. Lets just keep plodding along.

Checked the WF res the other day and test were:
PPM - 430 (not sure why it keeps creeping up but not going to worry too much since i'm not using any neuts yet)
PH - 6.8 (not sure why this keeps creeping up too but i'm going to lift the top chamber and put in a few drops of PH down just to keep it stable. Don't want to be going too crazy w/ the PH)
Water temp - 23c
Tent temp - 23.5c
Humd - 60%

She looks great! About those 3 cotyledons; there are a few phenos out there that start of with 3 leaf sets but they will turn into 2 (normal) after the 2nd or 3rd node I believe. So don't be freaked out when you see 3 leaf sets starting to grow after the first set of true leafs. What type of water are you using? Maybe that has something to do with your ppm and ph jumping up? I know it's also the hydroton for sure, it has a lot of loose sediment if it's brand new and never been used. It'll wash off after sometime and it's inherit so there won't be any problems with the plant.

Yeah, I did a bit of research and found it could be good and yield more if it has extra nodes blah blah, or turn out to be a slow grower. Just going to stick with it and hope it turns out ok.
In other research someone had the same thing happen to their Kalashnikova aswell so ermm mayb genetics?
The water i'm using is tapwater. I fill my 80ltr box upto about 40ltr and let it stand in there for a few days to try take all the crap from it. Still get readings of 200PPM. I would like a RO system but I just don't have the money...

As for the hydroton, I had 'em rinsed in the waterfarm for a week or two before this grow started and was still gettin crap from it. I remeber someone saying to put em under the shower. Did that and it took ALOT of crap from it, but not all. That's just something time will hav to do.

If I remember right, one of my kalashnikova looked the same when it sprouted. It had the third cotyledone leaf too.

Hey natty - looks like things are starting to come together now - stay vigilant! Keep your CFLs close to her and she'll start developing those serrated first leaves in a few days...

As pathetic as it may look right now, you'll look back and laugh a week from now - trust me. :leaf:

Update time.
She's starting to grow her first set of leaves, so all good atm. Just some more pics of the set up and the SMS fan controller.
I've added a oscillating fan into the tent now to get that baby nice and strong. Also switched on the fan controller to try get a good atmosphere but at the lowest setting.
I can also add that she's a thirsty girl too. Since the fresh res change on the 16/11 she's drank about 3ltrs. Altho there is no roots out of the top chamber i'm trying to keep in the routine of keeping the res topped up.

Do you think I should keep the CFL on 24/0 for a few more days or maybe switch to 20/4 to give her a rest?

Peace!

I'm not really a fan of 24/0 light, I mean you gotta simulate nature up to a point so there has to be a dark period in the day cycle. My 2c

I'm not a fan either of 24/0 light cycles. It is a known fact that Cannabis plants as well as others tend to produce certain hormones and other processes only during night or resting hours thus producing stronger plants and eventually better quality yields. I'm also a believe in not babying the plant too much. As soon as she germinated I placed her in the Waterfarm with the 250W MH and let her have it. As a result she grew strong, short and bushy from the get go. Of course I placed the 250W MH about 20 inches from the seedling for the first week then gradually lowered the light until about the 3rd week of veg to about 12 inches from the top of the plant. I think it depends on the strain a lot, but IMO it's better to have them under HID lights from the beginning to get them used to it and get a strong start. That's just me though. She looks great Nattybongo, keep it up friend :)

I'd only run 24/0 during the very early stages and that's with CFL bulbs. I wouldn't run a HID light that long. Otherwise 18/6 or 16/8. I've always used 16/8 with great success.

I switched her to 18/6 on the 23/11. So she's had a couple of days night time. Nothing new atm. PPM is about 350, PH 6.6. Day temps range from 21-25. Night temp 20.
I get paid soon so i'm going to buy some GHS micro to try and bulk her up a bit.

It didn't come with your waterfarm? Should have been the 3 part nutes included with the waterfarm kit. I don't use the flora grow or bloom.
