Beware of Noob Answers!!!

I come here for help from like minded brethren that happen to be a lot more experienced than me. For the most part, in my opinion, you have a lot of people here wanting to help and are willing to share any information, facts and opinions they may have. It's for this reason I have been reading in rollitup.org months before attempting to grow. For these people, you have many fans and many of them are silent. I would like to thank you!
For those arrogant SOB's that's obvious to a person newbish like me that you don't know shit... STFU!

Thank you.

I hope very few people saw it, but I flamed on someone giving hydro advice as only a soil grower. I still kind of cringe when I think about it because I was very uncivil to put it in the mildest of terms.

Perhaps I could have been more gentle, but as my point was then, my point still stands now: Please just give advice based on what you yourself have done. Pass along knowledge you picked up on RIU only if you have successfully applied it to your own grow. That will just increase the overall quality of the interaction between posters... and more importantly the quality of the information. I hear much trash talked about RIU, and I have said some unkind things about some of the users myself, but there are also a lot of great growers here that know their shit.

I don't know about all them other pot growing sites, but I'm sure they have good growers along with their fair share of dumbshits... Just like RIU. That's keeping it real.

I don't agree with you about the only way you can grow/give advice is with actual experience. Common sense will go a looong way when growing these plants and giving advice. People tend to listen to much to the myths they hear and try to make it more complicated than it needs to be.
^^
The first and last sentence in that paragraph are total contradictions.

Do away with the rep button for starters. Its passed around here like a bong at a Phish concert. Find a way to confirm a members age and get rid of the high school kids. And revoke Potpimps mod status, he name calls and instigates as much as anyone around here. Kinda like Illumination(global moderater at RM3)coming here and ranting like a 2 yr old. Then playing it all cool at RM3. The whole MJ growing forum, t=not just this site, but all of them are clicks and in crowds. And unfortunately the in crowds are not in the know when it comes to growing...myth and magic still rules over tried and true gardening techniques.

Grow with 4 dollar a bag dirt and Osmocote...ya, its real rocket science alright.(as I roll my eyes) And dont ask about what pH I grew it at. Straight tap water never pHed...

First good piece of advice for you soil growers. Throw you pH pens away and get you mix right from the beginning....

You all probably spend way too much time on this site and should probably get back to real life and your gardens about now.

I'm guilty too of being a book regurgitator when I got here. I couldn't help it. All the idiot n00bs who wanted everything handed to them with out picking up a book or opening a web page were making me feel like a genius.
I read C.Bible too of course, but I also read Watson and Clarke's Marijuana Botany, Ed Rosenthal's Grower's Guide, HASHISH!, Teaming with Microbes....
all the required reading for any self respecting cannabis grower. So when I was seeing questions like 'what spectrum is best for veg?"---I couldn't help myself. Even though I myself had just started growing, I felt as though I was better than the guys who didn't read grow books first before growing. I knew a little more, but had no experience growing weed.
Luckily for me though, I'm introspective. I realized I was being a douche and stopped answering question I didn't have direct experience with. That why you'll never see me in a 'what is this deficiency/toxicity' threads. I'm shit with nutrient defs.
I guess now when I think about it, it was about ego and being idolized be people who thought I was smart, or special. I did end up helping a lot of people, but the ones I didn't really stuck with me.

what i really think is the so called people with less posts even being a noob ( New ) to the site ??? have and most admit bin dwelling posts gathering info
what does it take to become a guru 1 grow 20 grows ???? to know your shit ?????
i learned long ago that listen to everyone take there answers and decide if its common sense can it work or Not plain and simple

i for one can admit even tho i have a lot of grows under my belt seem to always NEVER get a perfect grow and i come to the conclusion not to many others do either
Growing indoors well some think its a cake walk in reality it isn;t
so many variables
you room gets cold lights off Stress yields suffer
heat issues same thing , nute burn , over watering, missed a day of watering etc list goes on then you get the dreded gnats , spidermites etc

many growers like myself like to push the envelope in feeding putting us in a higher risk of issues
then you got others that don;t feed enough and run into major issues
so really is there any person that can say they had a perfect grow meaning no issues what so ever i would say BS
did you have a decent yield could of ?? could it of bin better prob.
Yes it gets crazy seeing post after post of the same stuff but guess what WHO CARES
lets just treat each other dignity and carry on :)) Cheers

Another problem is people recommending products (like a line of nutrients) that they havnt even used yet.

Too many "book experts" on here, people who read a book and think it makes them instantly able to grow.

I studied Cervantes Indoor/Outdoor Grow Bible for months before I started growing, I mean cover to cover, thought I'd be able to do it no problem...how wrong I was. The only way you can grow/give advice is with ACTUAL experience.

Noobs should learn to stfu and just learn, many times Iv been contradicted trying to help someone by some idiot who read a book and think they know better.

Nice thread, it should be a sticky to be honest.
lol....i did the same fookin thing and watchd about 30 vids.....still nuked my shit first time in coco...im on my third grow now and only answer questions iv got any xp on....a few people ballsd me up a few times wen i first joined here....took me a bit to figure out who actually new wtf they were talking about

Common sense will not begin to come close to being able to answer many questions asked.

People tend to listen to much to the myths they hear and try to make it more complicated than it needs to be.
The problem is misconceptions, untruths, half-truths, myths, urban legends and old hippie folklore have been repeated so many times that they have become accepted as being facts, so many of those who think they know accurate answers in fact do not know accurate answers. Throw in the noob beliefs and then you really have a bunch of inaccuracies floating around.

i think, based on all your great responses here, i'm going to go with the ass method mentioned above, but one more question...... does the finger have to be in my own ass, or can i borrow someone else's?
Your own, and you must walk counter-clockwise. And for the record, the belly button is way better.
