Why are Americans afraid of government?

You do realize that the reason you do all those things with the veracity that you do them is precisely because of fear right? Fear of your children starving, fear of family getting sick and dying, fear of you not being a provider, fear of not getting that next precious check that just barely lets you squeeze by until the next one. Face it, your life is chock full of fear. Most people live just like you do.
Hey, thats exactly the life I live! Except on the weekends I stand in a group and hold sign while I converse with people in the exact same situtation as me.

Because the occupy groups are financed by those who want the U.S.A. to become the U.S.S.A. and that includes all of the D of C. They want to bring civil unrest across the nation. They want to squash the middle class. Look back at history to see the future of the USA. From a Republic to a democracy to a dictatership. From bondage to freedom to apathy to bondage again.

Equal misery for all. Expect for the political elite. They must be rewarded for how hard they work and how much they care for the little people.

You clearly watch lots of cable network television. You also have clearly not actually atteneded any rallies and asked any questions and generally conversed with people involved.

Ok, give me a solution. If I am taking care of my family with the money I earn, how do I just drop everything to protest? Give me a solution. Do you have a family that you provide for? See, I fucking work for a living. It has nothing to do with fear. If I quit my job, my kids are not provided for. Give me a solution and I'll entertain your "fear factor."
Settle down Bub, i have a family and I work 7 days a week. when you say

means you are very fearful that unless you provide, your kids are going to starve. It has EVERYTHING to do with fear, whether you admit it or not. You ARE afraid, just like most everyone else You want a solution? Turn off your TV, invest the money you save by not paying cable and invest it. With all the time you save by no longer watching TV, you can bring in even more income. Clip coupons when you go grocery shopping , it will save you 20-40% of your grocery bill. Stop buying shit you don't need, only want. Cut your spending any way you can.

BTW I never once mentioned that you need to drop anything to go protest, so not sure where you are getting that from , I never even inferred such a thing.

Fear drives big government. The worst president in history, FDR, used big government to "save" us during his depression. All it did was control us.

A lot of the middle-east has turned its back on the government and rebelled and won, yet the states have an "occupy" movement that is laughed at and doesnt really do much.

My question is, why are so many Americans afraid of government? If the 1% is truly destroying the lives on the 99%, isnt that enough to rebel against the government? Or is occupy just a lazy form of, "well at least i am doing something and I want to be peaceful while my house gets taken away from me"
We reject having every aspect of our lives controlled, especially considering that those who would control us would, for the most part, be worth jack shit in the private sector, and will likely screw up every thing they take control of.

seriously? Fdr was not that bad... he put people to work that would have otherwise had none/starved.. the modern world is here because of the many public works projects Fdr introduced...(Hoover dam) ....

It is very importent now that the right claim FDR was wrong and that we would have done just as well without government "interference". What is strange is that they point to WWII as the final solution to the first great depression (as I believe it will now be called). What they are really saying is that government spending didn't work until government spending (WWII) worked. The right has to constantly change history because they are so often wrong about it.

People who hate on FDR probably only do so cuz Glen Beck does. He did a lot of good and bad for the nation at the time. He actually put America to work (So did Eisenhower). There were tons of infrastructure projects that were done to help stimulate local and national spending. I think massive deregulation and the foolhardy approach to globalism is what has really hurt us historically. To answer the question on the thread. Americans are afraid of the gub'ment because they forgot one simple, inescapable truth. WE ARE THE GOVERNMENT. Hey #occupy! Why don't you try occupying a public office instead of a city park? This new digital generation has been so saturated with information we have unwittingly learned how to control, disseminate, discern, and decipher information. I have no doubt, with the knuckleheads leading congress and a 9% approval rating, that anyone who is internet savvy and actually cares to do good for the sake of good can win any elected position (except prez).

Dont be so naieve. Occupy a public office, give me a break. You need millions to begin with and then you need support from the people that have millions in order to donate millions more. The political process has been sold, bought and paid for. It is broken, just like the monetary system.

Obviously you never heard of Mayor Michael Sessions. Why don't you go get educated before you come talking shit to me. Keep all your hopelessness to yourself. That shit is the cancer of complacency in our nation. Money is the biggest illusion of all. If it's anything it's nothing more than a way to assess ones stature in society. If the job is too fucking hard for you then you need to shut the fuck up until you actually come up with a plan to solve your mile long lists of grievances. If this nation is destined to go to hell in a handbasket it'll not be due to the corruption and evil of the so called "1%" it'll be due to spoiled little fucktards who know how to do nothing except bitch about shit they don't have. All I have been hearing is "blah blah blah 1%ers, blah blah blah, New world order, blah blah blah globalism is bad" Seriously come up with one solid good idea aside from touting this Ron Paul rhetoric. Yes the national political system is a corporate oligarchy but I don't see ANY ONE OF YOU doing anything but stating the fucking obvious.

PS This type of partisan bullshit is what lead to the Galactic Empire in the Star Wars universe And it's not the president's job to legislate.

Don't fucking talk to me about SPENDING SMARTLY. Fuck you. Fucking idiot. Yet, I hate those "occupiers" because they are a bunch of 20 year old fucks that are spoiled and full of ideas that their liberal colleges taught them. THEY KNOW NOTHING OF LIFE. And as I last recall, ythere's nothing wrong with me fearing for my family's welfare. Just morons like you want to blame everyone but yourself for not getting a great paying job because you never applied yourself in school. I fucked up in school, but I admit it. That's why I am where I'm at now. Liberal fucks like you want to blame society. FUCK YOU. QUIT YOUR BULLSHIT AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOURSELF. QUIT BLAMING SOCIETY YOU PIECE OF SHIT.
