I just switched my lights to 12/12 and i want the lights to be on from 9-9 and right now they are on from 12-12. can i switch it without it stressing the plants too much?
Heres a bump to old thread, I'm about to flip lights as well..I want to switch from 6am-12pm cycle to a 9-9 cycle too, and also have that 24h of darkness to start flowering sooner. A couple options im thinking of, dont know which is best.
Should I leave the lights on all night tonight until 9am then do 24 hours and start 12/12 from there (27 hrs light)? OR
Should I let the lights go out at midnight, and not turn them on again until 9am the next day (33 hrs darkness)?
Im leaning towards the first option because they are still in veg so a few extra hours shouldnt hurt right? help appreciated.
Great answer. Extra dark will be safer during flower than extra light but either way you should be all set. I actually give my flowering plants a single 24 hour light period around week 5 of flowering when the growth slows down to give them a boost back into growth and it works great.Just extend the dark period and you'll have no problems.
