How many plants are you planning or bringing up? If it's more than one you might need some more light. Anyone else wanna chime in on this?

Nah man. Miracle grow organic potting mix, Stay-Green Potting mix (that's what I use), and several others. Just make sure it has perlite in it. If you go with the MG soil, you won't need nutes for a while. I use the MG tomato food for mine. I've had really good results out of it, but it's easy to burn with, so take it easy if you go that route.

go for it man! the box i am growing in now i found when someone was trying to throw it away. it was a little broken but everything was there and in good condition it was just not all put together. with everything i added in there right now 2 pc fans and 2 cfl lights
it only costed me about 30- 40 dollars to create my box so its not that expensive but if you want hps lights and shit then it can run you up alot
with store bought soil i like the maricle grow sedling starter. alot less nutes and no time release ones that suck. you can add your on nutes when you want to and when the plant is grown a little

Good advice on this thread. Keep it simple and if you decide you dont like it, no harm done. If you have a closet or just a spot in a spare room they are great places to grow. If you have central heat and air you wont have to worry much about temps, just a small fan to move air.
Dont think you have to have to have a tent or a box if you can avoid it. Most strains dont stink that bad and A plug in air freshner maybe all you need.

If you have friends who smoke, you can off set those start up costs, and make some very happy friends at the same time. Grow yourself 5 or 6 plants and you'll have enough for you, and a bit left over for a few select good friends. OBVIOUSLY you'll tell them you came across some good, and NOT tell them you grew it!!

Don't use a cfl. Think about it dude you will be doing this for 4 months dont you want to do it rite? get a big yield for the effort? anyone that tells you its not hard to do and just get cfls is full of it. how many cfls to they sell at the hydro store?none.

The only people that use tiny boxes and get huge yields are using HIDs with a lot of high tec

They don't have one cfl bulb at my local hydroponic shop they have some t5 floros a ton of HIDs and some leds

Cfls are mainly used for germinating and veg. You Will need something like a hps for dense buds
