If you are using TAP water.... You have to LET stand over night... I have had the SAME problem and it had to do with NOT letting the tap water stand over night...

My experience and I have been using TAP water FOR EVER..... Just my thought....

Or another possibility is your PH is LOW... Lower than 5.5 PH will cause a lockup and the plant can NOT absorb Magnesium in the rate it needs...

So if this is the CASE.. I would use Epsom salt... That will likely cure a mag deficiency problem...

I use 1 tea spoon per gallon every 2 weeks in rez

great cheap and effective soil amendment especially for peat based soils which tend to lower in ph over time. you can mix this in with your soil before transplanting or you can dissolve in water and topfeed over you soil.

Any ideas on what could be wrong? I have not used any nutes yet. I watered with RO water that had 2.75ml of CalMag per gallon of water. Ph was 6.8

she is telling you its time to start feeding. that i would guess is a simple Nitrogen deficiency. not really a problem. you could give more calmag if it has N in it like calmagplus from botanicare, or you could start feeding with your base at 1/4-1/2 strength. i like to feed at a ph of 6.5 in veg.

Ok, so my RO water starts at about 6.5 Ph and then when I put the nutes in it dropped to 5!!! Any ideas as to what I should do to raise it? Getting frustrated here..

i have grown in ffof many many plants and seedlings. you want to start feeding your seedlings when you first see the cotyledon (small seed leaves) yellow off and die. i find i get the best results when i water from the top. this way i can more evenly distribute the moisture and nutrients. i would not do the dunk it could get messy and it may water log your soil. when we talk about phing your feeding solution we just mean mixing up your solution with all your additives and base and then adding ph up or ph down until the entire batch is the desired ph level. the difference between this and hydro is that with hydro you are constantly monitoring the ph and adjusting accordingly. soil is much simpler just ph your batch before you top feed, pour water in the plants and you are done. when watering with soil you want a healthy amount of runoff and water all around the top of the pot. be sure to soak everything slowly to be sure there are no dry pockets.

buy some ph up. there are other additives you can use like baking soda and lemon juice to adjust your ph, but if you do the math ph up is much cheaper. also what is your base? fox farm grow big and big bloom?

I am using roots organic soil and roots organic Buddha grow and bloom. Obviously only grow right now

For shits and giggles I put my pen in 7.01 fluid and it read 7.8 so my pen is off...awesome. Should I add baking soda to my already nuted water to raise Ph?

no problem. it has taken me quite a lot of time and effort to gain the knowledge i have and when i can share it with others so they may benefit, i could not be happier.

i have been doing this to cut down on the amount of ph up i use. i find this works well with some bases, with others the ph fluctation is too great and you have to add too much silica to get the proper readings. when i use GH as a base and then add my silica blast along with other additives, the ph ends out at around 6.2 which is pretty good for flowering.

I mix higromite in with my sunshine mix (I call it Coco Pebbles) because the higromite provides a ready and abundant source of silicon and they are resusable.

thats very interesting. this is the first i have heard of this. sounds like a great idea. does it help buffer the ph of the soil as well similar to dolomite lime?
