I have 5 Black Domino Feminzed growing in a DWC single nute tub. I have two air stones one 6 in one 10 in. I hae been keeping my ppm at around 800. The plants are 18 days old and some are getting bigger and looking good while others (one really) looks to be stunted, and is staying very small. I am using a water pump to cycle and drip. (Not a very big nice one just a fish tank sized one about 200 gal an hour) PH is at 6.2. I have 1 400w CFL and 2 100w CFL. Lights are at 20/4. Air temp is 80-85. Water temp is like 75(i think thats too high) Plants where germed in rockwool and moved in too nets pots over nuets. I have a few questions and would really appreciate some adivise.

1. Does any of the above sound bad?
2. How long should the plants grow before being put on 12/12
3. Would it be ok to put carbon rock tank cleaners in the neuts to help with potential sanitaztion problems?
4. How important is it to move up to either HPS or MH?
5. Is lemon juice bad for plants or is it ok to use to controll PH?
6. What have other people been able to yield off similar projects?
7. If i am hoping to clone when do I take cutting from a mother?

Really appreciate the suggestions and help. :)

welcome sounds like your crossed over from aquariums to pot growing question 1.every thing looks good you learned your first lesson dont start 4 plant and think your gonna harvest 4 or any your lucky all germ they probley didnt there where prob;ly more maybe not any way allways start at least double the amount you expect to harvest would be better if you had more plant sites your system set up is more for an established grower or some one who has access to clone dosnt mean you cant use it but you gonna put alot of time and effort and space into alot of plant that your gonna end up throwing out and then what start a new and the other is allways covering it or you cant have the light close to it so thats the down fall to that. 2. there is no set time to when the plants should be in flowering usually when they start to show shign of sex (pre-sexing)wich is about 2 month also the longer you veg the biggger your plant gonna be.3.no need to put a carbon filter in your res no benafit better to put an aquarium heater make shure you have a good air stone wich putts out a good amount of 02.4. I started with CF lights when I started now I see the diffrance if you want really nice large buds nothing like a HID's geta MH/HPS dimable ballast @ least 400watt makse all the diffrance5. lemon juice is ok but what I use is at any local pet store by the test kits they sell small bottles of ph up or down.6.I made one system like yours but I ended up building a bigger one and transplanting cant help with yield.7.they say wait 2 months till a plant is mature enough to clone from

Thanks for the post. I am not offended at all maybe should have tried to get that advice before diving in. But to late now we are invested and growing. Obviously (not sarcastic) you know understand this process alot better than I do. If you get a minute and wouldnt mind sharing some of the big do and donts from your own experience I would sure appreciate it.

I really cant be of much help to you as I grow in soil exclusively. Hydro is best suited for commercial production due to its speed and size potential. Soil produces a superior product in terms of flavor, smokeabilty and effect. I have never found the need yet to stress over so many factors (ph, ppm, temp etc..) constantly to produce an inferior quality of smoke. On the bright side I do believe if you grow a succesful crop in hydro soil should be a breeze if you switch.

:leaf:There is an amazing Mr Green grow room construction and how to video posted on the site that really helps out a lot.

KillerCannabis is right on the money. Ya, ppm may be a little high; I would watch it closely. Nice looking set up. Good Luck.

Almost forgot, water temp is too high. Ideal water temp is 68 to 70 degrees for maximum oxygen saturation, as warm water doesn't hold as much oxygen as cooler water. More oxgen in the solution allows the plant to uptake nutrients more efficiently. Good luck.

If water temps are high you can also add some peroxide to help oxygenate the res.

So i covered the rockwool with foil circles. I cycled the water out and got the ppm down to around 700. I ordered a 400w hps/mh combo kit. I will post more pics and more about the first experience as we get further.

I am still trying to figure out the water temp thing. Anyone have a good suggestion on how to keep my temp at a cold level.
