12-1 lighting schedule, has anyone actually tried this?

all i can say is ... read up on it, its called the gas lantern schedule also called the 12-1 schedule which is used for veging and the diminishing light schedule which is used for flowering ... then maybe ill answer your questions if there reasonably intelligent

You haven't answered my question.
I fully understand that you can trick a plant to staying in veg phase by breaking the dark cycle. You'll save about 5-10 hours of electricity a day.
Now answer my question.
Placate me and answer my unintelligent question, it should be easy right?
I thought a dumb question was one un-asked. There's no bad questions in the race to knowledge.

its advantageous because over your entire grow you can save time and money,
during lights on hours the plant stores energy/sugars
during the dark it converts energy/sugars into growth.
you grow 18/6 flower 12/12 because a book tells you to, if you dont mind we'll experiment with our technique's.

NOW my question was WHY go under 12 hours down to 8 hours in flowering. A question completely unrelated to 12-5-1-5.

No one has said why going under a photoperiod that no natural cannabis plant ever EVER experienced, would be a good thing. Not 12-5-1-5, but things like 10-14, 8on-16off.

ok as stated in the article during the end of season when they day is getting shorter and daylight is getting less and less, thats being replicated here, also dark hours bring on thc production.
as for piddly amounts of electric as stated earlier on in the thread over my entire grow i will have saved over 500 hours of light usage, and you call it piddly?

sorry for editing, as for 8 on 16off no where it says to go to that it says dropping 30 mins every 2 weeks, would drop it to 9 for the final 2 weeks,
plus before i chop i put mine into 3 days complete darkness with no feed, also unnatural no?

Like I said, I understand you want to emulate nature, but dropping 30 minutes light a day happens nowhere. You lose 3 minutes a day from the solstice in Quebec, 6 minutes a day in Alaska. Nowhere on the planet where cannabis might have evolved, do the daylight hours drop that low.
