Hey everyone at RIU i'm a noob grower who wants to try the super soil, but can't get hold of ROOTS ORGANIC or HARVEST MOON, what alternative soil can i use instead of them i can get B&Q multi purpose compost and BIO BIZZ soil that's it also i need a place where i can get rock phosphate from? i need to make my mixture asap have searched every where on the forum but no info or help from any one, really would appreciate some ones help, also as sub said in an earlier post he veg's for 60 days and flowers for 60 days in 7 gallon buckets i take it that applies to indica 8 week strains correct me if i am wrong please also i am thinking of growing some longer strains like the sativa haze varieties.

If i was to use 2 gallon pots what veg time would i have to grow to finish 8 week strains or 11 , 12 week strain in the same pots as i would not like to transplant apart from when using clones to establish a root system

Also what yields do you get from using 7 gallon buckets vegged for 60 days and flowered for 60 days?

I don't think he uses rock phosphate in his revised version.......and I would just follow the recipe exactly like he says to....like that you have a smaller chance of problems......I used nothing but roots organic for my base and mix....I would think the bio bizz alone would be fine......2 gallon buckets are too small, your soil will run out of juice and or your plants will get root bound unless you are 12/12 from seed but if you are going to do that then I wouldn't advise using super soil at all...I did try super soil in 3.5 gallon pots and vegged very little like 3 weeks some grew well some didn't.....strains that take longer might need to be top dressed with super soil or give them a blast of nutrients if they show signs they will need it before they finish......

8 large bags of high quality organic potting soil with coco and Mycorrhizae
25-50 lbs. of organic worm castings
5 lbs. of Blood meal 12-0-0
5 lbs. Bat guano 0-5-0
5 lbs. Fish Bone Meal 3-16-0
¾ cup Epsom salt
1 cup Sweet lime (Dolomite)
½ cup Azomite ( Trace element)
2 Tbs. powdered Humic acid
*** If using an RO system add in 1/2 cup powdered Cal/mag

advanced yellowing leaches the nitrogen out of the plant and uses it alll up. advanced yellowing is a controversial subject, but in my opinion it is desireable to get max flavor and a perk of using supersoil, if u follow instructions it turns out perfect.
I don't disagree with any of that. All I'm suggesting is that for that particular strain, he might consider boosting those additives for the next run. A deficiency that shows that severely at that stage is affecting yield, no doubt about it.

True i dont doubt shes was/is having some Deficiency. I picked up some Mollasses to "Feed" my soil. I think my problem is not top feeding/ adding a sweet additive enough. This is only round 2 with Super Soil and im loving all my results everything is a learning experience. I am going to reveg her after harvest hopefully ill get to take her for another run but i have a Querkle and Cheese Quake just itching to flower just have to sex them first

The molasses ony feeds the microbes, the microbes still need organic material to feed on to release nutrients for your plants. I'd try to increase your source for the nutrients I listed above (don't remember now, and I'm lazy) for a stronger finish next go around.

K thanks Fellas i figured the Top feeding would take care of that but i guess i was wrong. How often do people usually top feed? I just basically topped them with Super Soil when they looked like they wanted more which was about once or twice in flowering so far.(Around Day 25 the first time and day 40 the last) I know its pretty hard to over fertizlize with Organics but should i really be topping them like once every 2 weeks? or Top feed and Mollasses everytime they look hungry. I feel like a fucking noob all over again.....

The thing is, if you're top feeding with that same super soil it will only go so far to help. You should try to target the nutrients which that strain is hogging.

If you're worried about the size of the pellets you don't need to. I use prilled lime (pellets like you have) with no problem. They will dissolve once you add water.

Since we're talking about strains, how does white widow - nirvana bank - and SS work out? Anyone with some experience and good results? I'm wondering if a 10-gal might even be better for this type of grow and strain. Also, will tap water (assuming it's around the right pH range) and a brita work out OK?

I choose to follow Subcools super soil formula after my first ever grow when my plants looked underfeed most of the last 3 weeks of growing. Being a novice grower and finding overwhelming amounts of information about how to grow and best ways to grow. I choose to follow a proven method and copy a master. Here is a peak at how they did in a super soil grow. I varried the amount of the soil I put into my plants to see how the increased amounts affected yeild as well as total health of the plants. I will let some photos tell the rest of the story. First pic is about 7 days. Then about 20 days for the second one. After 5 or 6 completely successful SS runs (First with Promix base, then with roots base.. until we got gnats pretty bad.) We had really good results with the roots and even the Pro mix even tho we knew we would have to help that batch out twards the end. This current batch we used the same formula as always except used Happy Frog as the base. Well.. 4 weeks into 12/12 and we have serious yellowing going on over the entire plants. Seems like there is just not enuff to get them finished this time. The same mix was used at two different spots with the same results. Question is .. you think the Happy Frog had that much less to it then roots? Roots could take Dairy Queen and Jillybean to the end. This time at week 4 AOS DQ and 3D are all peetering out at the same time with the Frog. I'm pretty sure next batch is gonna be roots. But any suggestions on helping them get to the end and still remain organic? I already use a compost tea every other watering. (Worm casting, Bat poop and molasses) :/

The Tea is great, but have you also considered top dressing with Super Soil. That should take you into harvest.
I fed a little tea to my 3D, because she got a little longer veg time this round. But, I've only ran a Roots mix.

Right on... Stupid Stoner moment... Top dress duh... Two of us were racking our brains last night. Neither of us wanting to revert back to GH type products ... never used the "Organic" line and don't want to have to lol. As soon as I read your reply I was like yea... no shit.. lol.

I say i'll blame it on the Cheese Quake ... or our Rocky Raccoon (almost pure cheese pheno of DQ that hits you like your wearing a mask)
