Ok... So im on my 2rd grow just now and have just started germinating my third and i have 200 euro that i was going to spend on either a 400 or 600 watt Hps lamp and cool tube so i have been looking around the interwebb and came across Led lights and although i new they existed i know very little about them...

Can anyone one with experiance let me know how you got on with them... what your yields were like... where you got them and how much they cost... Do you think i would be able to get anything worth using for 200 euro (thats all i can afford just now) and if you have any links you think might be helpful...

Thanks > Chris

HPS is the way to go, but if you're dead set on LED .. figure on spending around a g to get one worth running ..... my buddy has a blackstar 600 and my 600HPS gets me about 2oz more than his. i'm sure there are more peeps that will chime in, do a ton of research before spruging for a cut rate LED, ya get what ya pay for when it comes to LED's.

<-- no LED experience here, but from what ive read you really want the 3watt diode panels if you are going to buy one...and they are expensive..REALLY expensive...there are 1watt diode panels available that are a little cheaper, but don't penetrate as well as the 3watt ones...there is an LED shootout thread that was started not long ago that has some really good information in it...ill try and find it and post it for ya.

Yeah just think when they start coming out with like 10watt diodes brighter than the sun and cheaper than a battery...<3 technology :D

A 600 hps for someone who knows what they're doing will yield a pound easily. I get more like 20 ounces, depends on your goals and budget I guess.

Here's a helpful chart that explains some of the benefits of LED lighting with regards to photosynthesis, light output and efficiency.

haight solid state are pretty sick they have 6watt diodes
and the best bulbs are blue metal halides but they only come in 1000 400 and i think 250. 400s are the way of the future

oh let me clear up the my buddy runs my clones, and runs the same soil, FF stuff .... i get 4 to 5 oz a plant, he gets 2 a plant if he's lucky. i think they "LED" are the way of the future after the price comes down considerably, and technology takes them a bit farther. if ya spend like 2 grand for a LED ya can get some serious growin' goin' on, but why spend that if ya can do the same thing for 5 beans LOL ....

hehe yea my dog is usually passed out under my desk ..

dude seriously ..............
MH are for vegging and HPS are for flowering ..................... i run HPS all through out my grow, dual HPS 150's in vegge and a 600w sun agro "red" HPS in the flower room. i was running a 250mh in vegge, i did get faster growth but way more stretch and node spacing under MH. i switched to the dual 150 HPS, node spacing tightened up and very little stretch on going from 20/4 to 12/12 ... so my plants are going into flower at 24 to 30 inch's tall instead of at 18 .... just my experience.

You do know that the MH spectrum is closer to that of the sun's, right?

yea but then why do ya get better results under HPS vs MH during flower? its common knowledge that MH=veg -- HPS=flwr or are all the old timers wrong? on my next bulb change i'm gonna try one of the full spektrum ceramics ... they're supposed to be killa, but i have yet to find a 600w HPS that has out performed my agro red.

sorry man not jackin ur thread, i'm out ....

depends on how many plants you plan on growing. check out the grow in my sig to see what a LED can do, it should have been 4 plants, tried 5 beans, 2 didnt pop, one went male, so 2 is whats left.
