I was reading a thread that was posted a few days ago about having homeless people grow "Dumpster Weed".....
so now i start thinking i should try making something along these lines...
unfortunately im not anywhere near an accessible Dumpster so im downsizing, "Trash Can Weed" i have a nice new 20 gal plastic trash bin, and a 32 gal aluminum one, and since im all about experiments im attempting to grow my two females(or possibly clones) one in each, with a 50w HPS and about 6 cfl's each...i like the aluminum one for the high reflectivity though i feel heat may become an issue.
As of right now my two vegging females are sitting 2 in one bucket (AHHHHH TABOO!!!!) under 8 100w CFL's, at a comfy temp of 76F and about 24% humidity at 24/0, growing and progressing nicely about 2 weeks from flowering.....
now the thought of making it grow in a trash can seems so cool, im sure it's been done before and i'm not the first but yes i have som new ideas for the soil, previously i used an 80% sand 10% worm castings and 10% organic soil mix, ow that i saw how bad the sand worked for letting the roots develop( i thought they'd easily move through loose sand...they didn't).
I'm now using 100% worm castings on top of about 500 marbles lol all mixed into the sand, the thought is that it will improve drainage, and the smooth edges will allow roots to spread easily...probably a very stupid idea, and if anyone can let me know an idea before the 2 weeks is up, please don't hesitate.
I'm not setting it up yet so i'll skip pics for now ,
thanks-
